About

My professional experience as a software engineer (6+ years) spans from distributed storage systems, software defined storage to research & developing an organic farming platform using a variety of technologies (References in my CV). For the past four years I've successfully worked with a fully remote team, for a startup in Toronto, in the data storage industry. This period was essential in gaining deep knowledge on unix architecture, kernel drivers and distributed file-systems (S3QL) and not just writing code for applications. Specifically in this position I was part of the team designing, implementing & testing the API which linked user operations with the rest of the system modules written in Python with Flask. Another of my roles was creating a software layer, written in Python, which handled operations from the software application to various virtualized infrastructures such as vSphere & Hyper-V. During this period I also learned how to have concrete processes in releasing production code to customer's with continuous integration & continuous delivery frameworks such as Jenkins.

Prior to this position I was employed at the Institute of Computer Science at Forth, which is ranked as the 1st research center in Greece and in the top 50 of Europe. In this position, with my colleagues at the lab CARV (Computer Architecture & VLSI), I helped with automating testing of a software-defined storage system for the EU funded project LeanBigData. Specifically I wrote python unit tests which would run on virtualized environments (vSphere & Hyper-V) and integrated them to buildbot which is an open source project continuous integration framework.

As an undergraduate & postgraduate during my Master's degree I was employed by iSTLab which is my university's in-house software research facility. During this period I worked on EU funded projects MusiNet: a distributed music collaboration application, BioDrasis: application aiming to establish collaboration between stakeholders of organic farming. For the latter I was responsible for developing a mobile application with Angular & Ionic Framework.
