I am a postgraduate Microbiology graduate with a strong academic and research background, driven by a passion for understanding microbial systems and translating scientific knowledge into practical solutions for biotechnology, healthcare, and environmental sustainability. I completed my MSc in Microbiology from Kristu Jayanti College Autonomous, Bengaluru, where my academic journey strengthened my analytical thinking, experimental rigor, and curiosity for interdisciplinary research.
My research experience spans microbial diversity, molecular biology, nanotechnology, and environmental biotechnology. I have hands-on expertise in a wide range of molecular and microbiological techniques, including conjugation, transduction, transformation, PCR, AFLP, RAPD, RFLP, restriction digestion, agarose gel electrophoresis, plasmid isolation, and GFP identification. I am also proficient in DNA extraction, microbial cultivation (bacteria, fungi, and algae), serological techniques such as Dot ELISA and RID, and analytical methods including UV–visible spectroscopy, TLC, and NMR. In addition, I have experience using bioinformatics tools like BLAST for sequence analysis and microbial identification.
My research interests strongly align with green nanotechnology and environmental remediation. My MSc thesis, titled “Econano Guardians: Multifunctional Approaches of Green-Synthesized Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles from Obnoxious Weeds – Eichhornia crassipes and Pistia stratiotes”, focused on eco-friendly nanoparticle synthesis, heavy metal remediation, antimicrobial activity, and biocompatibility evaluation using zebrafish models. This work reflects my commitment to developing sustainable scientific solutions using invasive aquatic plants for environmental benefit.
Previously, I have worked on microbial fermentation processes and antimicrobial studies at JNTBGRI, and on the isolation and molecular characterization of acne-causing bacteria during an internship. I have also contributed to projects involving betalains extraction from Beta vulgaris and antimicrobial testing, further broadening my laboratory exposure.
Beyond technical skills, I value scientific integrity, teamwork, and continuous learning. I have received a Private Merit Scholarship, reflecting my academic dedication. I am particularly interested in research areas intersecting microbiology, nanotechnology, infectious diseases, and translational biotechnology, and I aspire to contribute meaningfully through research, industry, or advanced doctoral training.
