About

I am a senior full stack engineer with about twenty years of experience building products for companies that range from tiny startups to large enterprises that still behave like tiny startups. I live near Rome, which means I get sunshine, good espresso and an internet connection that mostly behaves. I work remotely with teams in the United States and the United Kingdom, and at this point I could probably run my life through Slack and a mug of coffee.

My main focus is modern JavaScript ecosystems. React, NextJS, TypeScript, Tailwind, Node, the whole usual stack that keeps the web moving. I have spent the last several years jumping between greenfield projects and legacy systems that require a mix of patience, archaeology and stubbornness. I enjoy both. Clean architecture makes me happy because it keeps the team moving, and legacy work makes me useful because somebody has to understand what on earth is happening inside that forgotten folder called old stuff.

I like roles with clear ownership. Give me a problem, let me figure out the shape of it, and I will deliver something robust without creating extra drama. I am pragmatic by nature. I care about performance because real users notice it, I care about accessibility because everyone deserves a usable product, and I care about maintainability because future developers should not hate me.

I also tend to bring a bit of product sense. After years of working with designers, PMs and founders, I know how to ask the right questions and avoid technical decisions that solve imaginary problems. I mentor when needed, I collaborate well with multidisciplinary teams, and I keep communication simple. Nobody benefits from a twelve paragraph explanation of a two line fix.

My background includes work for companies like NewDay, Ambassador Theatre Group, UsTwo and Arqiva. I have led teams, built internal tools, migrated platforms, created design systems and delivered features used by millions of people. On the side, I maintain a couple of open source starter kits built around Supabase and NextJS, mostly because I enjoy smoothing out developer experience.

Outside work I spend time with my partner and my son, usually by the sea or attempting to stay fit enough to survive parenthood. My priorities are simple. Great work, calm collaboration and the freedom to build things that actually matter.
