BDB-JE is a robust, efficient, widely deployed integrated database engine. It implements a B+ tree index, known to perform well for random read workloads and provide good support for range queries. Berkeley DB is an open source embedded database library that provides scalable, high-performance, transaction-protected data management services to applications. Berkeley DB provides a simple function-call API for data access and management. Berkeley DB applications can choose the storage structure that best suits the application. Berkeley DB supports hash tables, Btrees, simple record-number-based storage, and persistent queues. The entire database is implemented as a log avoiding the need for a separate write-ahead (commit) log. Reusable plugin component is implemented as a command line interface and it used for migrating the existing RDBMS applications to Oracle Berkeley DB application. It accepts the SQL query as an input and converts this query into Berkeley DB understandable language.
