I am Abebe Aragaw, an academician with over a decade of experience in research, project management, and capacity building across public and private sectors. I am enthusiastic about joining the African Research and Data Fellowship team, driven by my longstanding curiosity about the intricacies of science and the complex social and economic interactions that shape our world. Over the years, I have pursued further studies independently and through university enrollment to deepen my understanding and offer relevant solutions to existing challenges.
I pursued a Ph.D. in Development Economics at Marmara University in Turkey, aiming to expand my knowledge of economic and development theories. However, I am keen to complement this academic foundation by collaborating with international organizations on impactful projects. I believe that the interdisciplinary approach of my Ph.D. program equips me with specialized knowledge, perspectives, and practical skills to address current economic and development issues facing my country and the global community.
Following the completion of my Ph.D., my passion lies in engaging in developmental projects led by domestic and international research organizations. Therefore, I am eager to contribute to the African Research and Data Fellowship team. The thematic focus on gender equality aligns closely with my specialization in development economics.
My overarching goal is to leverage my expertise and experiences to effect positive change in people's lives through rigorous research and evidence-based policy recommendations. With my robust analytical, quantitative, and econometric skills, coupled with proficiency in English, effective time management, and strong interpersonal abilities, I am confident in my ability to excel in this role. I am grateful for the opportunity and look forward to contributing to the team's success. Thank you.
