Aastha Prasad

I’m a passionate software engineer with over six years of experience in backend development, data engineering, and machine learning. I recently completed my Master’s in Information Science with a specialization in Machine Learning at the University of Arizona (May 2025), a milestone I’m especially proud of as the first person in my family to pursue higher education abroad.

Throughout my career, I’ve worked across various domains—healthcare, e-commerce, real estate, and job aggregation—delivering end-to-end solutions with a strong focus on performance and scalability. My experience includes developing and optimizing REST APIs using FastAPI and Flask, building robust data pipelines, and managing relational and NoSQL databases. One of my key achievements was optimizing ETL pipelines with multithreading, which improved performance by 40%.

At IndiaMART, I contributed to building a Lakehouse architecture using Apache Hudi and Apache Spark on Google Cloud. I designed a complete data pipeline that ingested Kafka streams, transformed the data using PySpark, and stored it in BigQuery. I also built a Flask API to serve this data from both GCS and BigQuery, streamlining access for internal teams.

Previously, I led the backend development for Greenstreet, a real estate analytics platform, where I handled data ingestion, pipeline optimization, and API development using FastAPI. I also created a chatbot for PartsTown using IBM Watson and Flask that recommended appliance parts, and developed a text classification model for a code review tool using TensorFlow and Keras to detect i18n rule violations and suggest corrections.

I’ve also worked on a large-scale job aggregation system where I scraped job postings from multiple sources using Python and stored the data on AWS S3. In the healthcare space, I developed dashboards and APIs to visualize hospital and doctor performance metrics, helping improve decision-making through data insights.

Coming from a middle-class family in India with three siblings dependent on my father, I’ve funded my education through a loan and taken every challenge as an opportunity to grow. My journey has been shaped by resilience, curiosity, and a strong desire to make an impact through technology.

Currently, I’m focused on MLOps and full-stack application development using FastAPI and React. I’m actively looking for software development roles where I can apply my skills, keep learning, and contribute to building innovative, scalable systems.
