We are looking for an experienced WordPress Developer to build, maintain and improve our websites, dynamic catalogues and data integrations, working with our custom plugins and backend team.
WORKING HOURS, PAID EVALUATION PERIOD AND LONG-TERM OPPORTUNITY
This is a full-time, remote position with 40 working hours per week. We are looking for someone interested in a long-term collaboration.
The role starts with a two-month paid evaluation period. This period gives both sides the opportunity to assess whether the role, working methods and expectations are a good fit for a long-term collaboration.
During this period, you will become familiar with our websites, existing systems and team, and demonstrate your WordPress development skills through practical work. We will assess technical quality, independent problem-solving, reliability, communication, delivery and the ability to thoroughly test your own work.
During this two-month evaluation period, the pay is USD 2 per hour worked.
After a successful evaluation, compensation will be reviewed and adjusted based on demonstrated performance, experience and the responsibilities you take on. Strong performance may lead to an earlier compensation review.
Hubstaff is required for tracking working time throughout the collaboration. The tracking scope and monitoring settings will be explained before you start.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Build and maintain WordPress pages, templates and features.
• Create dynamic catalogues with filters, pagination and detail pages.
• Integrate and display external API and backend data; coordinate with our backend team and existing custom plugins.
• Build enquiry forms that securely retain and validate the originating page or listing information.
• Deliver correct desktop, tablet and mobile layouts.
• Maintain performance, security, accessibility and search engine optimisation; fix defects and safely update themes and plugins.
• Test on staging before controlled live deployment, with backups and rollback.
REQUIRED SKILLS
• At least 3 years of professional WordPress development, demonstrated by websites you personally built or maintained.
• Strong Elementor Pro: dynamic templates and loop/listing grids.
• JetEngine and JetSmartFilters, or equivalent tools such as ACF or Pods: custom post types, dynamic fields, listings and filters.
• Strong PHP and JavaScript, plus HTML and CSS for responsive layouts and troubleshooting.
• Read, maintain and modify existing custom themes and plugins.
• REST API integrations: connect external services and display their data correctly.
• Forms that securely receive and validate page/listing context.
• Staging, backups, migrations, controlled releases and rollback.
• Accessibility and SEO fundamentals: headings, meta descriptions and keyboard navigation.
• Good written English, clear progress reports, reliable instruction-following, independent problem-solving and prompt reporting of blockers.
HELPFUL ADDITIONAL SKILLS
WooCommerce; Contact Form 7 and form integrations; WP All Import or similar tools; XML/CSV feeds; cPanel hosting administration.
QUALITY AND COMPLETION
Check the existing setup, requirements and dependencies before changes. Develop and test on staging. Maintain a current backup and prepare recovery before deployment.
Independently test affected pages and complete visitor journeys on desktop and mobile: filters, pagination, details, enquiry forms and external data where relevant. Check success and error cases.
Report changes, tests, results and unresolved issues. Only report completion after these checks. After approved deployment, verify affected live functions again.
