Affinity Business and Community Development (ABC Dvlpt) is looking for an experienced grant writer to join our team.
Research and Strategic Planning
o Determines proposal concept by identifying and clarifying opportunities and needs, studying requests for proposal (RFPs), attending strategy meetings, participating in relevant staff meetings, and developing a strong understanding of the organization's work, programs, priorities, innovations, history, mission, and results.
o Identify corporate and foundation prospects and develop effective solicitation strategies to secure funding for project priority initiatives.
o Strategically link institution and programmatic initiatives with fundraising opportunities.
o Perform prospect research on foundations and corporations to evaluate prospects for corporate and foundation grants.
o Lead or participate in initiatives and workgroups that might result in or impact grant funding.
o Make informed and well-prepared presentations on major funding decisions; lead conversations on the benefits and risks of a particular grant.
Goal Setting and Monitoring
o Set annual goals that include, but are not limited to: dollars raised, writing proposals, types and amounts of gifts sought, and adding funding prospects to the database.
o Work with the manager to prepare monthly, quarterly, and/or annual reports to the government, foundations, and other funders as required
Grant Writing and Management
o Write and coordinate full grant proposals and reports to foundations, corporations, and select government agencies as determined by the grants calendar and grant reporting requirements. Foster the growth and implementation of best practices for all grant-related functions, including proposal-writing, budget development, and data integrity. Research and compile pertinent information for projects requiring funding.
o Maintains grant deadlines and program tracker and enters relevant information into the organization's database. Meets proposal deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for information and shares information with the development team. Coordinates requirements with various program staff and contributes proposal status information.
o Drafts, revises, and produces high-quality proposals and reports for multiple stakeholders by using templates and following proposal-writing standards.
o Assembles information, including project nature, objectives/outcomes/deliverables, implementation, methods, timetable, staffing, budget, standards of performance, and evaluation.
o Improves proposal-writing outcomes by evaluating and redesigning processes, approach, coordination, and templates.
Relationship Development
o Understand institutional history and programs, and the ability to summarize into well-written proposals.
o Develop, foster, and maximize relationships with institutional and private funders.
o Maintain thorough knowledge of current and planned programs and priority initiatives to accurately and persuasively communicate achievements and goals to prospective funders.
o Follow up with grant-making organizations during their review of a submitted grant application to supply additional supportive material if requested
This role reports to the Director and Managing Member. This role is contract/contract-to-hire and will be remote until further notice. Entry-level grant writers are welcome to apply.

Experience/Education:
o Preferred: Grant Professional Certified (GPC), or Certified Grant Writer (CGW), or Accredited Grant Writer (AGW).
