Ashraful Aid is a South African humanitarian organisation working across Southern Africa and internationally. Our communications carry the voices and dignity of the communities we work alongside — this is solidarity work, not a product to sell, and how we tell these stories matters as much as how often we tell them.
THE ROLE
We are rebuilding our marketing function around AI-assisted ways of working. This is a new, hands-on role for someone organised and creative who will own the day-to-day rhythm of our social media output and produce the visuals that go with it. You will be the person who makes sure the content calendar is full, on time, on brand and consistent — across appeals, campaigns and everyday storytelling.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
• Build and maintain the monthly social media content calendar across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, X and YouTube
• Schedule and publish posts in Hootsuite; keep the queue full and never miss a campaign date
• Design social graphics, story templates, appeal creatives and short-form video edits in line with our brand guidelines
• Use AI tools (Canva AI, Adobe Firefly, ChatGPT/Claude and similar) to speed up drafting, resizing, background work and first-pass copy — with a human eye on every output before it goes live
• Adapt one piece of content into the formats each platform needs
• Lead the content rhythm for major seasonal campaigns, including Ramadan and Qurbani, where volume and deadlines both peak
• Pull performance numbers each month and flag what is and is not landing
• Keep our asset library tidy and correctly labelled
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
• 3–5 years in social media coordination, content scheduling or graphic design — agency, in-house or a strong freelance track record all count
• Someone who has run a content calendar before and does not need to be taught the basics of scheduling discipline
• Hands-on experience with Hootsuite or a comparable scheduling platform
• Confident in Canva; Adobe Creative Suite is a plus, not a requirement
• Comfortable with, or genuinely curious about, AI creative tools — we will train the right person, but you must be willing to work this way
• Excellent written English and a good eye for layout, typography and hierarchy
• Reliable and deadline-driven — scheduling is a job where being late is very visible
• Sensitivity to how humanitarian stories are told, and the judgement to handle them with care
• Based in South Africa, with reliable internet and your own laptop
NICE TO HAVE
• Short-form video editing (CapCut, Premiere, DaVinci)
• Experience in the nonprofit or faith-community sector
• Basic Meta Ads Manager familiarity
HOURS
Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 16:30 SAST.
