About the Role
The Group Ltd. is seeking an exceptional Senior Full-Stack Solutions Architect and Mobile Application Developer to lead the design, development, deployment, and long-term maintenance of a National Transport Digital Platform.
This is an ownership role. The successful candidate will be responsible for building a complete digital ecosystem from architecture through to deployment and ongoing support, serving government agencies, transportation operators, residents, and visitors across the Cayman Islands.
The platform scope includes real-time vehicle tracking, driver and passenger mobile applications, government analytics dashboards, operator management portals, digital payment systems, automated compliance monitoring, and cloud infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture and Backend Development
- Design and develop scalable full-stack applications with secure REST APIs and backend services
- Design and optimize database architecture
- Build role-based access control, authentication systems, and secure government-grade web applications
Mobile Application Development
- Develop and maintain Driver and Passenger mobile applications for iOS and Android
- Implement GPS tracking, offline sync, push notifications, QR code and NFC functionality, digital payments, route management, and incident reporting
Real-Time Systems
- Build live GPS tracking and WebSocket/MQTT communication systems
- Develop route monitoring, geofencing engines, automated compliance scoring, and real-time event processing
Dashboards and Portals
- Build a Government Administration Dashboard and Transport Operator Portal with live maps, heatmaps, KPI tracking, compliance reporting, revenue analytics, and data export
Payments and Financial Systems
- Integrate payment gateways, digital wallets, and fare collection systems
- Implement QR and contactless payment solutions in a PCI-DSS compliant environment
Security, Infrastructure, and DevOps
- Deploy and manage production environments on Linux servers
- Configure monitoring, backup, disaster recovery, CI/CD workflows, and MFA/audit logging
Documentation and Support
- Produce technical documentation, train stakeholders, and provide post-launch maintenance
Required Technical Skills
- Backend: Node.js, Express.js, TypeScript, REST APIs, JWT, WebSockets
- Frontend: React.js, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, dashboard development
- Mobile: React Native, Expo, iOS and Android, background GPS services
- Databases: MySQL, Prisma ORM, query optimization
- Real-Time: MQTT, Socket.io, Redis, BullMQ
- Mapping and GIS: Mapbox, Leaflet, geospatial data, geofencing, route planning
- Infrastructure: Linux (Ubuntu), Nginx, VPS, Docker, PM2, SSL/TLS
- Payments: Stripe, Visa/Mastercard, QR and mobile wallet integrations
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
- 5+ years of professional full-stack development experience
- 3+ years of mobile application development experience
- Demonstrated experience delivering enterprise or government-level software projects
- Experience deploying and managing production systems
Preferred Experience
Candidates with a background in GovTech, smart city platforms, public transportation systems, real-time fleet management, GIS, SaaS architecture, compliance monitoring, or AI and analytics integration will be strongly preferred.
