Time for Tutoring is a Sydney-based tutoring agency that connects Muslim families with qualified, vetted tutors. Our brand is built around and trusted by the Muslim community, and cultural familiarity is central to how we operate.
We're hiring a phone-based salesperson to handle inbound enquiries, lock in new families, and be the ongoing point of contact as we scale.
What you'll be doing:
- Calling warm leads who've already shown interest and guiding them to booking their first lesson
- Occasionally calling parents first to gather the information our team needs to match them with the right tutor
- Explaining our service and pricing clearly and confidently, no discounts, no guessing
- Handling objections with skill and composure. Parents will push back on price and ask hard questions. Doing this naturally, without being pushy, is the single most important part of this role
- Following up quickly on leads who haven't committed yet, leads go cold fast, and calling the same day matters
- Staying the main point of contact for every family you onboard (customer service). These become your clients, and parents will reach out down the line with questions, updates, or concerns. There's no admin work involved, but keeping that relationship strong and making sure the family stays with us is part of the job.
Who we're looking for:
- Excellent spoken English. This is a phone-heavy role with Australian customers, how you sound on a call is everything
- A genuine understanding of Islamic culture and Muslim family life, not just awareness of it
- Warm, confident, and natural on the phone. Able to hold a real conversation, not read from a script
- Proven ability to handle objections and close without being pushy
- Reliable and committed. This is a long-term role for the right person, not a side gig you dip in and out of
- Flexible with your time. Call volume varies day to day, and occasionally we'll need you to jump on a call outside your normal hours. You don't need to drop everything, but you do need to be reachable and responsive within reason
- Previous phone-based sales or customer service experience is required
Pay structure:
This role starts commission-only: $10 AUD for every tutoring hour successfully onboarded. After a 2-week probation, we'll discuss a more standard pay structure depending on performance.
This isn't the right fit if you're looking for a quick hustle. We need someone long-term who'll stay committed, not someone who won't take it seriously.
To apply, you must include:
- A 60-second voice recording introducing yourself, then responding to this scenario: “A parent calls and says your prices are too expensive. What do you say?” Please don't read from a script or use an AI-generated response, we want to hear how you actually think and speak. Natural, unscripted videos will be looked on far more favourably than polished, rehearsed ones.
- A description of your previous phone-based sales or customer service experience
- An answer to this question: how familiar are you with Islamic culture and Muslim communities, and where does that familiarity come from?
Applications without a voice recording will not be considered. Natural unscripted videos are favourable.
If you've read this listing in full, write the word EARTH at the very top of your application.
