2D and 3D Animator for E-learning Explainer Animations fixed price

The Learning Company HQ: Utrecht, Utrecht, Netherlands Remote job Jun 29

The Learning Company is a Dutch e-learning startup based in Utrecht, the Netherlands.

We create practical online training modules for topics such as food safety, hygiene, logistics, onboarding and workplace behaviour.

We are looking for a freelance 2D/3D animator or motion designer for a long-term collaboration. The work will vary throughout the year, but we are growing our e-learning content and want to build a consistent visual animation style.

Our topics are serious, but the animations should make them easier, clearer and more engaging for learners. The style we are looking for is professional, simple, educational and slightly cartoonish, with a touch of smart humour.

The animations should support learning. They must be easy to understand, visually clear and preferably understandable even without much text on screen.

What we need

We are looking for someone who can create short animations for e-learning modules, for example:

  • simple character animations;
  • explainer-style 2D animations;
  • visual scenes showing correct and incorrect behaviour;
  • workplace, food production, hygiene, logistics and onboarding situations;
  • simple 3D elements or 3D animation, if relevant;
  • animations based on a script, storyboard or learning objective.

Important requirements

You should have experience with:

  • 2D animation and/or motion graphics;
  • explainer videos or instructional animations;
  • creating clear visuals for practical topics;
  • working in a consistent house style;
  • delivering final video files and editable source files;
  • communicating clearly in English.

Experience with e-learning, training content, food production, logistics or workplace safety is a plus.

Nice to have

The following skills are useful, but not required:

  • 3D animation;
  • character rigging;
  • voice-over editing;
  • sound design or music editing;
  • creating multilingual versions of animations;
  • experience with tools such as After Effects, Blender, Moho, Toon Boom, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Figma or similar software.

Our values

Our e-learning content must represent gender and racial equality and must be free from stereotypical expressions. We are looking for someone who understands and respects this mindset in their creative work.

How to apply

Please include links to your most relevant animation examples. We are especially interested in examples of:

  • 2D explainer videos;
  • character animation;
  • educational or instructional animations;
  • motion graphics;
  • 3D animation, if available.

For each example, please briefly explain your role. For example: storyboard, illustration, animation, editing, sound, voice-over, or full production.

Please only apply if you can show relevant animation work. General graphic design, web design or social media content without animation examples is not enough for this role.

Shortlisted candidates may be asked to complete a small paid test assignment before starting a larger project.

We prefer to work on a project-price basis. For us, consistency, reliability and long-term collaboration are more important than a one-time project.
