Master in Sustainable Urban Design Lunds Tekniska Högskola, 2007 - 2009
Semester 1: Urban Recycling
Re-branding Sorgenfri, Malmö
Regenerating a former industrial district in the inner city into a
new mixed-use neighbourhood.
It will provide new connections to the city and new uses which will integrate existing and new users.
Semester 2: Urban Landscape
Ghet to the Farm! Glumslöv
Following an investigation into the Oresund region, a new
commuters village is built at Glumslöv, north of Landskrona.
The proposal explores a cultural exchange between urban
and rural dwellers. The former agricultural use is retained and
celebrated as small scale residential co-operative farms.
Semester 3: Urban Dynamics
Jiaxing 123 Plan, China
What are the criteria to deliver a coherent development while
providing a flexible structure for future changes?
Jiaxing is undergoing dramatic growth due to the new Maglev
station to Shanghai. The Jiaxing 123 Plan suggests a
mediation strategy to support farmers to transit from a rural to
ultra-urban development.
Semester 4: Thesis
The Low Gini City, Guayaquil / Ecuador
An investigation into the perception of insecurity and how
considerate design can minimise hostile environments.
A large industrial area will be a meeting point for the
surrounding areas. Identified masterplans form part of a
framework to provide security in urban life. These include
housing and work certainties and safety in public spaces.
