What are your thoughts on the modern world of work? And what does it look
like to you?
Answer:
Below is my point of view, on the modern world of work, and this I what I think
about it.
Technology isn’t a new thing for this generation, or the previous. It has
always affected us, in ways which seemed impossible at times. But technology
made its way and is continuing to doing so. Technology affects the way individuals
communicate, learn, think, and most precisely how they work. We are living in an
era where technological advances have become one of the most common things.
The internet and cell phones are some examples, which have influenced our life,
and continues to do so. Technology being an influencer isn’t a thing of today,
From the industrial age to modern day, technology has immensely impacted
working conditions, an improved it in many ways. It has modernized the tedious
tasks, and more or less made them extinct due to the presence of machines. Since
there are so many new technologies to keep track of, it can seem overwhelming to
adapt. But sticking to the point of how it has changed the modern world of work?
Technology has provided us with great lengths of advantages at our workplaces,
from increased efficiency to an increased pace in the time taken to complete tasks.
There is also great productivity seen in workers, as with time they are asked to
become more creative and precise with their work. Most of the tasks have shifted
from manual to machine work, which has led to the increase in speed. Workplace
culture is developing on a daily basis, from hiring and recruiting to finding ways to
keep employees drawn to their offices, by making it more enjoyable. Moreover, it
has profited youngsters or job seeking people to a great extent, as the obstacle of
living nearby your workspace has been eliminated. People from remote areas can
easily search up jobs on the internet, apply and get hired. This way companies can
hire people from across the globe and gives them a chance to incorporate different
cultural ideas into their business/work too. Moreover, technology has led to
consistent attachment to work, and this makes the employees more efficient, and
productive by how fast things can be done now, with shorter deadlines. Messages
can be conveyed immediately, and payments can be transferred in the most
convenient way. Furthermore, technology has made the world into a smaller
world, where communication is no more an obstacle. Collaborations, meetings,
web based seminars, team coordination and many more things can be done in the
most easiest way. And lets not forget how With the advent of technology in the
workplace comes an encouraged productivity in finance. Businesses are much
more fiscally healthy as a result of innovative technological equipment and new
software packages
On the other hand, technology does have its disadvantages as well. The growing
use of technology in the workplace, has left many unemployed, seeking for a job.
This is also the reason for the growing anxiety in people, as to when will this era
find a replacement of their work and what skill should they master to avoid this
from happening. Since certain positions are already disappearing everyday,
companies can downsize their whole organization to a single person who
manages just a piece of software. Moreover, some people still find it difficult to fit
themselves into this new era and wish that things could go back to the old times.
In conclusion, I would just like so that although technology has led us to great
advancements in today’s world, the downside of it still cannot be ignored.
How is the modern world of work different to the past? What are the biggest
challenges?
The modern world of work has completely evolved and has improved for the
better. There is increased productivity, efficiency, competitiveness, and
communication, etc.
Challenges:
• Older times had its own perks, getting a job was easier, employment rate
was high and there was a limited competition unlike today.
• Employees might resist change and would want there older way of working
back.
• The past had more human resource, and human oriented jobs while today
technology has gotten the best of us, and new jobs are produced every day.
• The advancements into technology has made security of workplace more
susceptible than the past.
• The immense use of social media can be a reason for decrease in work
efficiency.
• People working in the old traditional way might take time to get used to this
new era of technology.
As a result of all these, people must find a way to compete, make themselves
competitive and fit themselves in the changing times
