GLOCAL Sample Writing
Ever since I started my Bachelor’s in Business Administration at the Institute of Business
Management, I’ve been drawn to the intersection of global market strategy and local
creativity. That spark really caught fire during my exchange semester at Girne American
University. There, I dove into courses like Strategic Management, Research Methods in
Business, International Marketing, and Integrated Marketing Communication—not just
textbook learning, but a real look at how ideas move across borders and how every market
reacts in its own way. Those months made it clear: I want to be part of the GLOCAL Erasmus
Mundus programme, especially Study Track C, which fits perfectly with my drive to connect
international strategy with local results.
Academically, I never wanted to just skim the surface. My GPA during the exchange semester
hit 3.67, and I worked hard in every class to sharpen my critical thinking and strategic skills.
Steadiness matters too—my overall CGPA of 3.25 shows I stick with things. But grades aren’t
the full story. I threw myself into projects that blurred the lines between theory and realworld problem solving, always trying to understand markets from both the top-down and
the ground-up. That hands-on approach is exactly what GLOCAL values, and it’s shaped how
I tackle new challenges.
On the professional side, I’ve built up experience that makes me ready for this next step. As
a Key Account Executive at Paysys Labs, I handled major client portfolios—over $300K in
annual revenue—and worked closely with teams to deliver fintech solutions. Earlier roles in
business development, research support, and vendor management taught me how to size
up market needs, solve problems quickly, and build strong, lasting relationships. These jobs
convinced me that going back to academia isn’t hitting pause—it’s a strategic move to
deepen my understanding of how global and local business really connect, and to sharpen
the skills I need to make a bigger impact.
For my Master’s thesis, I want to dig into how global marketing strategies can adapt to local
entrepreneurial ecosystems. I’m interested in real, practical takeaways—ways businesses can
use international best practices but still stay true to local strengths and culture. Looking
ahead, I see myself working in corporate strategy or consulting, using these insights to drive
sustainable growth and real socio-economic progress in emerging markets.
Outside the classroom and the office, I keep looking for ways to grow and give back. Earning
a full scholarship for my exchange semester at Girne American University was validation for
my work, but it was also just the start. Workshops, internships, and community projects
have taught me how to turn ideas into action and reminded me why bridging global
knowledge with local involvement matters so much.
The GLOCAL Erasmus Mundus programme feels like the right next step—a place where I can
blend my academic foundation, professional experience, and genuine passion for connecting
the global with the local. I’m excited to learn from peers around the world, share my own
perspective, and turn insights into strategies that actually make a difference. With what I’ve
learned so far, and the drive I bring, I know I’ll thrive in Study Track C and contribute
something real to the GLOCAL community.
