UX/UI Case Study
PROGRESS COMES THROUGH PRACTICE
DEVO is an application that helps users achieve their sports goals.
DEVO acknowledges that each user is unique, with different needs.
That’s why it offers a wide range of coaching options tailored to meet
user expectations. Whether you’re a beginner looking to lose weight
or someone aiming to improve performance, DEVO caters to individuals with sporting goals, regardless of their age between 15 and 65.
PROBLEM
Each person is unique and has different needs. The numerous applications I have seen cater to a limited category of individuals with
standard exercises. They do not consider people who want to excel in a specific sport, individuals who are overweight, or those with
joint problems. They also do not offer rehabilitation exercises.
GOAL
Design an app to help users find exercises that best fit their needs
with a clear and intuitive display.

Competitive Audit
I proceeded to analyze the competition and search for untapped
opportunities. I carefully examined their platforms and features, as
outlined below.
FITON
Boasts a clear and user-friendly
design, providing a convenient
platform for accessing various
workout classes. Its simplicity
aids navigation and quick engagement in workouts. However,
it primarily focuses on standard
and trendy exercises, limiting
the diversity of workout options available. Users seeking
more specialized or niche workouts may find the offerings
somewhat limited.
CENTR
Provides a holistic approach
to fitness and wellness with a
variety of workout programs,
meal plans, and mindfulness
exercises. The abundance of
content can make the interface
overwhelming, impacting ease
of navigation. It could benefit
from incorporating more social and community engagement features to enhance user
connection and motivation.
NIKE TRAINING CLUB
Known for its extensive collection of workout programs and
user-friendly interface, it offers
easy access to a wide range of
workouts. However, reliance on
premium subscriptions and limited personalized recommendations may restrict accessibility for users seeking free or
more affordable fitness options.
Incorporating more personalized recommendations and
goal tracking features could enhance the user experience.
THE PELOTON
Offers a diverse range of workouts and immersive fitness
experience, catering to users
seeking comprehensive training options. However, it lacks
personalization and may be
considered costly for some, limiting affordability.
Survey
To gain a deeper understanding, I conducted user interviews over the
course of a week. I interviewed 18 individuals and meticulously recorded their responses to gain insights into their needs, motivations,
and frustrations.

Personalization and Customization
Users value the ability to customize their sports goals
and training programs. Incorporating features that allow users to set individual goals, track progress, and receive personalized recommendations can enhance the
user experience and keep them engaged.
Time Management and Convenience
The survey reveals that users face challenges in finding
time for sports activities. Designing the app with features that help users plan and schedule their workouts
efficiently, offer flexible workout durations, and provide
reminders or notifications can assist users in managing
their time effectively and staying consistent with their
sports activities.
Community and Social Features
Building a sense of community and fostering social interaction among users can help in creating a supportive and
motivating environment. Implementing features such as
user profiles, social sharing, and challenges can encourage users to connect with others, share their achievements, and stay motivated in their sports activities.
Clear and Intuitive Navigation
Users appreciate a clear and intuitive interface that allows them to easily navigate through the app and find
relevant content. Implementing a well-organized menu,
using intuitive icons and labels, and providing quick access to essential features can enhance the overall user
experience and make the app user-friendly.
Persona
Using these responses, I developed an empathy map to deepen
my understanding of the users’ perspectives.
«I know I need to get more active, but I struggle with
finding the right exercises and staying motivated.»
