Any holiday is a great excuse to hang up a wreath. Christmas, of course, is
the most popular. Evergreen wreaths—decorated with red and green ribbons,
ornaments, and pinecones—are popular to see hanging up on front doors. But a

Wreaths can also be decorated for specific occasions, such as birthdays,
graduations, baby showers, and weddings. These can be extra fun to order or
create as they can perfectly reflect the person they are being created for.
Not all wreaths are hung up outside the house for decoration. They can be
used as headbands as well. In ancient Greek and Roman days, garlands were
frequently worn to denote wealth and status, as well as for Olympic prizes. Today,
they are dainty additions to wedding party attire. Flower girls are frequently seen
wearing garlands, while even the bride will sometimes have a flower wreath
woven into her own hair. They are a gorgeous addition to any wedding outfit,
especially more natural weddings or those set outside in the spring or summer
months.
Wreaths come in all different shapes and sizes. The most common wreath
shape is circular, but they can also be shaped as an oval, star, heart, square, or
really any shape at all. Sizes of wreaths also differ. If you glance through the
wreath section of any craft store, you will quickly see that the basic frame of the

wreath can come in any size you want. Be sure to remember when shopping for
the right size of frame that you will be adding to it, and the wreath will most likely
be several inches bigger than it was originally.
The materials for a wreath are as broad as your imagination. Most wreaths
are made out of some type of tree greenery or twigs, and they can be decorated
with nature objects and ribbon. However, wreaths can be made from materials
ranging from newspaper to popcorn. Anything light enough to be supported by
the wreath base and reasonably sized to fit on the wreath can be used.
