READERS
Ladybird Reading Scheme is a series of readers which develop full reading fluency. At roots ladybird series are introduced
in the Montessori and children are taught reading through phonic approach. All our children have successfully completed
ladybird series. Each book contains a list of new words which keeps on increasing from book to book. Reading Skill is
accelerated and children experience pleasure and a sense of achievement. Now children will move on to Ginn Series New
Reading 360 Level 5. Reading will develop gradually under the guidance of the Reading Teacher. The pictures arouse
curiosity and extend the imagination of young learners and thus facilitate speaking skills at a very early stage. Look ð
Observe ð Talk approach is used to stimulate young minds. Aim is to develop reading fluency in young children. Parents
are requested to keep the remaining readers safe at home and only send the reader that is read in the class.

Note for Parents: Please see that your child organises his / her bag according to the above instructions as it will lighten
the burden of the bag and the books / notebooks will be brought in accordance to the class timetable issued to the child
in August 2007. Kindly ensure that your child maintains neat notebooks. The teacher will be sending home notebooks
(which will remain in the class cupboard) for revision of tests / for your perusal according to a set schedule. Kindly
ensure that the notebooks are well maintained and returned to the class teacher as per her instructions which will be
clearly stated in the child s homework diary. The teacher will correspond with you through HW diary. In case you have any
queries or anxieties, kindly correspond with the class teacher through the homework diary. To remain actively involved in
your child s development and academic progress, you are requested to read his / her homework diary on daily basis and
sign accordingly. In case you are anxious about some matter, please do not hesitate to interact with the school.
Immediately call the Branch Head on her office number and she will satisfy you by addressing your anxiety. At roots we
believe in triangular approach to education with the fullest participation of parents ð school ð student. Kindly spend
quality time with your child and converse in English at home so that our efforts yield fruitful results. Encourage your child
to read books and motivate them to establish mini library in their bedroom. Cheap books are available in all the second
hand bookshops and Sunday Bazaars. At this stage encourage them to buy books instead of toys as it is only through books
that we can develop the intellectual capacity of our children. Reading habit has to be cultivated in the primary years. We
shall be looking forward to working with you in bringing out the best in our children.

GUIDELINES FOR BRANCH HEADS & MATHEMATICS TEACHERS
ð Branch heads must allocate one zero period for the preparation of

feels that teacher can cope up with the curriculum. The core studies
should not be affected by this period.
ð Mathematics teachers must do an effort regarding the preparation of
kangaroo contest; she can make some of her own tests on MCQ format for
children.
ð Teachers can give tips of how to assess a Multiple Choice Question,
understand it & then solve it correctly.
ð Teacher can help their students to smash out of their Math Blocks & train
them to acquire mental math skills.
