Magic The Gathering_ 10 Best Commanders For Every Color
In Magic the Gathering, there are Commander decks, also known as Elder Dragon Highlander
decks (EDH for short), which are decks that consist of 100 individual cards. This means 100
cards, with zero repeats. Land cards also count in the deck total, and one of these cards must
be the commander itself. The commander must be a legendary card, which can be a difficult
choice to make, as there are plenty of legendary cards to pick from.

To help with that decision, here are some of the best Commanders to lead your armies! While
there are many runner-ups that could make decent commanders, these are the top 10 best
Commanders; featuring at least one of every color to match anyone’s preference. If it’s a leader
you need, you will surely find one here.
Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh - Red
Chandra is an easy pick for a commander - she has many legendary cards, and a load of great
abilities. Specifically, the card Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh is a great commander. Out of them all,
this one particularly stands out. At a cost of 1 colorless and 2 red, any time you tap her she
deals 1 damage to a player; however, when you cast any red spell, she’s untapped.
So, ideally, you can tap her to damage to target player, cast an instant and untap her, then tap
again. This one damage at a time may seem pointless at first, but once she's done 3 or more
damage in a single turn, you can exile her and return her transformed under your control.
Meaning, after you ping any number of players for 3 damage in one turn, you can flip her for her
other form. Combine this with Chandra's Regulator card, and you can see her real potential and
damage.
Sliver Overlord - Every Color
This card costs one of every mana color, 5 in total of different manas, to cast. While he’s a 7/7,
and is costly, he also lets you search your library for a Sliver card to put in hand for only 3
colorless; while another 3 colorless lets you gain control of a target Sliver indefinitely.
Rather than the Sliver Queen or the First Sliver, the main reason to pick this Sliver is how easy it
is to find Slivers from your deck and deal them out! Working as a tutor engine, it helps to bring
out other pieces with ease. With Slivers, the more you have, the more powerful your board is.
Letting you have easy access to other Slivers, especially ones you can toss out ASAP, makes
this an easy choice as a commander. This card pairs well with Amoeboid Changeling.
Omnath, Locus of Mana - Green
For a Green mana Commander, Omnath is an easy choice. They cost 2 colorless and 1 green,
don't lose unspent green mana as steps and phases end, and they get a +1/+1 for each unspent
green mana you have. This means not only does any green mana you have floating will stay
active throughout your turn and your opponents’ turns, so long as it's unspent, but you can
pump Omnath up considerably.
Other mana colors, should you have a green Commander but a mixed deck, will still expire as
their restrictions state; but unused green mana specifically won't. However, once Omnath leaves
the battlefield, you have until the end of the current step or phase to spend whatever floating
mana you have, otherwise it goes back to your regular mana cards.
Avacyn, Angel of Hope - White
While Avacyn, Angel of Hope costs 5 colorless and 3 white, she's worth every mana. A white
mana commander with flying and vigilance, and the feat of being indestructible; Avacyn comes
out of the gate as an 8/8, and can only go up from there. She also grants indestructibility to
other permanents you control, including lands!
The Worldslayer is a great partner for Avacyn, despite it being 5 colorless to cast, and another 5
colorless to equip. When paired together, Avacyn and Worldslayer can destroy permanents
across the board - while still leaving all of your own permanents safe, as they're indestructible.
This commander is a formidable leader, and an army of angels under her control would easily
wipe out the whole table.
Talrand, Sky Summoner - Blue
For a blue Commander, Talrand, Sky Summoner is the perfect pick! He costs 2 colorless and 2
blue mana, and is at base a 2/2. Talrand also says whenever you cast an instant or sorcery
spell, you can create a 2/2 blue Drake creature token, which also has flying. This commander
works best with a spell-heavy deck, as he creates his own creatures for an army of flying terror.
It also pairs well with the card Favorable Winds, which grants flying creatures you control a
+1/1!

With Talrand and Favorable Winds on the battlefield, every time you counter a spell, your army
grows bigger and stronger. If the MTG-gods favor you, you can get both cards out and swing in
for the win.
Varragoth, Bloodsky Sire - Black
At a cost of 2 colorless mana and 1 black, Varragoth Bloodsky Sire is an easy choice for a black
mana deck Commander. With Deathtouch and sitting at a base of 2/3, this Demon Rogue also
has the Boast ability. Costing 1 colorless and 1 black, you can cast boast and the target player
looks for a card in their library. After shuffling their library, they then put the card on the top
without having to show their opponent.
The only catch to this ability is it's once per turn, and can only be cast when this creature has
attacked this turn. However, this tutor-on-a-stick commander pairs extremely well with
demon-themed decks, especially if you have Shadowborn Apostle. These two cards,
specifically, can create a toolbox deck; meaning you can search for what you need when you
need it for a quick and easy advantage.
Sisay, Weatherlight Captain - White/All
This white mana Commander costs 2 colorless and 1 white, and is every Planeswalker's best
friend. Sisay gets a +1/1 for each color among other legendary permanents you control, letting
her get stronger over time.
As you get permanents on the battlefield and her power rises, you can then activate her ability
for one of each mana color to search your library for any legendary permanent, such as a
Planeswalker, with converted mana costing less than or equal to her power. This card then goes
directly to the battlefield, ready for a good fight. The best deck for Sisay to command is one that
is heavy with Planeswalkers, as she can easily and swiftly cast them onto the battlefield for
victory.
Skullbriar, The Walking Grave - Black and Green
A Green and Black card, Skullbriar the Walking Grave only costs one of each and starts at a
base 1/1. However, he gains a +1/1 counter if he deals combat damage to a player. These
counters remain on Skullbriar always, regardless of any zone he is moved to. This means,
whether he goes to exile, command zone, or graveyard - he still holds any and all of these
counters on him.
As he is black and green mana, Skullbriar has access to many powerful cards such as;
Doubling Season, Hardened Scales, or even Demonic Tutor! Putting these cards in your deck
would be a great advantage, as they will allow you to achieve amazing synergy among the
cards.
Bruna, Light of Alabaster - White and Blue
With flying and vigilance, Bruna Light of Alabaster also provides many other great reasons to
pick her for a Commander. While she does cost 3 colorless, 2 white, and 1 blue; she is worth
every last tap of mana. When Bruna attacks or blocks, you can attach any number of auras
already on the battlefield to her, and may put more onto the battlefield that can attach to her;
including any number of Aura cards that could enchant it from your hand or even graveyard.

A powerful card, Bruna is one Commander that you can really have fun with. Already two colors,
blue and white, you can really add her to just about any deck and easily succeed! Auras are the
best to load her deck with, and she won’t let you down.
Ulamog, The Infinite Gyre - Colorless
Casting Ulamog does cost 11 colorless- but he's worth it! He can choose any target permanent
to destroy whenever you cast him, right off the top. He can also cast annihilator 4, which states
that whenever this card attacks, the defending player sacrifices 4 permanents. Also, if you put
Ulamog into the graveyard, you can shuffle your entire graveyard into your library; giving you the
chance to use any card from your graveyard as well as cast Ulamog again.
Pairing Ulamog with the All is Dust card, you pretty well have the win. Given Ulamog is
colorless, All Is Dust's ability, sacrificing all colored permanents on the battlefield, comes in
pretty handy, and helps lead to a winning Commander deck!
