WIPE AWAY YOUR FEARS
Here is your guide to 5 of the most confusing myths about makeup. Find out what to do, what to ignore and what will happen if you don’t.
If you choose to wear makeup, like every woman every, you can get quite intimidated by the choices of products and styles that you have. Now, there’s good news and there’s bad news. The good news is that there’s millions of websites, blogs, YouTube videos, forums, Instagram pages, and step-by-step articles out there for you. You can get all the information you need.
The bad news is that just like there’s tons of information, there is also a plethora of misconceptions, myths and false assumptions. Is it okay to fall asleep with your makeup? Do we need to clean makeup brushes every day? Is there just one product for everything?
Here, we discredit five of those myths.
Myth 1: EITHER COVER YOUR WHOLE FACE OR NOT AT ALL
There are a lot of women out there who wrongly believe that if you’re going to put on makeup, you need a full face of it. Take foundation for example. If you can match it with your skin tone, you can use a careful account only where it is needed. The most important thing is already done: matching the tone. Now, you can wear as much or as little as you want.
Myth 2: IT’S OKAY TO FALL ASLEEP WITH YOUR MAKEUP ON
You’ve had a long day and you’re dead tired. The only thing you can think about is the warm, welcoming bed in your room. The possibility is that nothing will go wrong with you, if you wake up with makeup on that rare occasion. As long as it doesn’t happen again, you’re fine. There could be a little irritation and a lot of rage if you find your pillow streated with makeup, but that’s about it.
Make it a habit and nasty things can happen. Keep your makeup removal kit on your bedside table. Turn it into a routine.
Myth 3: MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY
There’s no one way to put on makeup. Everybody does it differently. The same person can put on her makeup using different styles depending on the day, the situation, the season or a host of other factors.
The best part about using makeup is that you can play and experiment with it. Be a risk-taker.
Myth 4: NATURAL IS BETTER.
This one is very popular and continuously repeated. Natural makeup brushes are made with animal hair. This could be the cause of an allergic reaction or a breakout. Also noteworthy is the fact that animal hairs are more porous than synthetic fibers. They take in more product and similarly more bacteria can be stored in them.
You definitely want to use makeup brushes that are synthetic. They have fine bristles and are gently packed which provides you with an even tone all over.
Myth 5: NO NEED TO CLEAN YOUR MAKEUP BRUSHES OFTEN
Washing your makeup brushes can be a long haul. According to top makeup artists, you should clean your makeup brushes after every single use. But truthfully speaking, who has that kind of time on their hands? So realistically, clean them at least twice a week.
