One day in Nottingham:
The first thing you’ll see when you research Nottingham is that it is the home of the famous outlaw Robin Hood. The story is such a big part of our history but it is by no means the only thing we are proud of. We love our city and are sure you will too. They say one day in Notts in never enough but here are our suggestions to make the most of it.
Breakfast:
Start your day the healthy way with a visit to Edins Natural Deli. This homely café is less than 5-minutes’ from us so you don’t have far to walk for your morning fix. It really is a one of a kind café and its home cooked food is all locally sourced. Try their eggs benedict for a real treat. Check their Facebook for more information
Being a tourist:
For a unique look at Nottingham, take the City of Caves tour. You are led to an underground network of caves and given a handheld audio guide so you can explore at your own pace and learn what the caves were used for during WW2. They also do interactive performance tours every day. For tickets and more information check this website.
Guests of the City of Caves tour can also get a discount on their sister tour, The National Justice Museum which is another highly recommended tour. This award-winning museum encourages everyone to get a better understanding of justice and the law. Their exhibitions and characters change throughout the year so you can be sure of an original experience. Tickets are £10.95 for adults.
Lunch:
One of our favourite spots for lunch is the Hungry Pumpkin. The café is a cosy, casual eatery less than five minutes from our front door and they boast they ‘are not a fast food place, fresh food is worth waiting for’. They have an impressive selection of Paninis, salads and filled jacket potatoes to cater for every taste. They also say if it’s not on the menu they can try their best to make it for you.
Shopping:
We are lucky to be located close to Nottingham’s most unique shopping districts, Hockley. With an array of quirky cafes, boutique clothing shops and vintage stores you could spend all day browsing here. Nottingham’s lace-making heritage is also reflected here with plenty of shops showcasing beautiful one-off pieces for sale.
Dinner:
Keep things local for dinner at the fabulous Oaks restaurant. Oaks really is a meat eaters dream with their locally sourced grilled meats and locally brewed craft ales. Everything about them is real Nottingham down to the wood they use to smoke their meat! Join them on the weekend for live music from local bands and DJ’s, every Saturday night.
