What to do when you have a 24-hour stopover in Hong Kong? Hong Kong is a city where glitz and glamour rules the roost but if you learn to look beyond the glass and steel structures, you will be greeted with the smile and sounds of a different world. People say that Hong Kong has enough attractions to keep you busy for 365 days but if you are here only for a 24-hour stopover, you need not be disappointed. The beauty of such stopovers in Hong Kong is its amazing accessibility. The HK Airport Express train will bring you to the Central station in just 24 min. So even with just a 24-hour stopover there are lots of things to see and do in Hong Kong. We have covered some of our favorite spots in the city which you can and must see in 24 hours. 1) Victoria Peak In any new city you must find out that best viewpoint so that you can go up and enjoy a bird’s eye view of this modern city. A trip to Victoria Peak would ensure a breathtaking view of the surroundings, a shopping opportunity and a strip on the iconic Peak Tram which allows you to see the whole city laid out before you. 2) The Star Ferry The Star Ferry is the very backbone of the Hong Kong public transportation system. It gives you an opportunity to experience Hong Kong from the Kowloon side and while you are there you can some of the museums and the markets. A single journey ticket costs less than a dollar; so you must undertake multiple trips between Hong Kong and Kowloon to experience the journey over and over again. 3) The Peninsula Hotel If you have seen the James Bond movie, The Man with the Golden Gun, then you simply cannot forget the Peninsula Hotel and its green Rolls Royces. This is one of the most luxurious and expensive hotels in this part of the world. A buffet lunch in one of the many restaurants of this amazing hotel may not be exactly affordable but you can surely take some wonderful snaps of this majestic hotel from the other side of the road. 4) Tsim Sha Tsui Your stopover in Hong Kong will be incomplete without the customary visit to the Tsim Sha Tsui district of Kowloon. The whole place gets illuminated like a Christmas tree in the evening and it will be a real shame if you miss all these. Just walk around touristy places like Mong Kok to get a real feel of Hong Kong and if want to take a peek into the designer stalls then you should walk down the famous Nathan Road. 5) Temple Street Night Market Before you make your trip back to Hong Kong International Airport we suggest that you pick up some souvenirs from the quintessential Hong Kong market that is known as the Temple Street Night Market. The market is open until midnight; so you can buy as much as you want before making the return journey. One can buy everything – food, tourist T-shirts, electronics and fake goods that look and feel like the real thing. But again the real attraction is the atmosphere here and you must come here to experience it all.
