OPERATORS GUIDE
Welcome to Causevest’s Operators Guide! Here, we’ll discuss the following:
Why does Causevest need an operator?
What is an operator?
Who can actually be an Operator?
Why should you be an Operator?
How are Operators actually rewarded?
Who decides which jobs get rewarded?
Additional Jobs and Tasks of an Operator.
WHY DOES CAUSEVEST NEED OPERATORS?
Within any true cryptocurrency network, there must be a way of rewarding the users and people that help protect the integrity of that network. We don’t just want monitors or node operators or people that run nodes to be the only people that can generate new coins, though they are important, we don’t have any monitors in this network. And node operators host the data that is required for all the trials and transactions to be hosted on the network.
Operators add an additional layer of integrity that helps the Causevest network manually and we want to reward it.
It also serves an additional purpose; it enables us to encourage new actors into the cryptocurrency space that might not have the ability to run or become monitors or node operators due to technical barriers to entry.
Finally, operators form a technical part of our ecosystem as the income and revenue they generate can be recycled into the network as they use the goods and services that are offered in our cryptocurrency XCV.
WHAT IS AN OPERATOR?
Anyone that makes a signal to the network can be crafted as an operator and that can be done in a multiple of ways but there are two different types:
A Supporter Operator: This is someone that supports or helps to validly promote a particular cause or category of causes. And
A Maintainer Operator: This is someone that is focused primarily on validating the data that these causes upload and then goes on to generate additional capital. And also helps with mitigation of small contracts and organization of the causes and the cause categories that are listed on the network maybe like a Wikipedia page.
WHO CAN ACTUALLY BE AN OPERATOR?
At the most elementary level, anyone can be an operator as long as they have the ability to vote with XCV coins. The easiest way to do that is by earning some but you can have coins nominated to you if you’ve proven to be someone that can act on the coin holder’s behalf.
After generating a certain amount of revenue, every single operator must hold a deposit that is linked to the network; a minimum amount which enables them to generate capital roll over.
It is also holds them to account if they do offer their vote or do a combined act or do anything that threatens the integrity of the network.
WHY SHOULD YOU BE AN OPERATOR?
Three of the main reasons of being an operator is so that you can help others, you can have fun and compete with other operators in deciding which causes should get the most capital and which categories they generate can get the most capital from the network.
And you can generate well, it is a good way of generating revenue share essentially if any of the donations received to your particular cause based on your work, whether they are receiving donations or donations are being handed to them, we share that with the operators that have pointed their interest to a particular set of causes.
HOW ARE OPERATORS ACTUALLY REWARDED?
Operators are rewarded in two ways specifically:
Firstly, they get a fixed share of the profit generated from the fees of any cause associated to them and that they’ve worked on.
Secondly, they have the ability to generate new coins for the work they do within the network that is recognized by either
a) The proof of cause protocol or
b) Open-source platform operator
Protocol Awards
When a support or maintainer operator completes a task that is recognized by the Causevest network node, they generate proofs which increase the possibility of generating new XCV coins. You can think of proofs as same as mining power.
The more you can with the network, the more proofs you generate, the higher the number of proofs you have, the higher the probability that you generate an XCV coin. The more you are proven to be good at work, the more rank and reputation that your “Causevest Wallet” receives which enables you again to generate a higher rate of proofs for the additional work you do within the network. This is to encourage good acting as well as punish and discriminate bad actors.
WHO DECIDES WHICH JOBS GET REWARDED?
Usually, in the backside of the protocol, we would write up some fundamental rules about what can be rewarded and job types that can be rewarded based on the platform that we are building. How we believe we’ll want to incentivise users to act within our network. You can think of these as the “Causevest Commandments.”
However, we are also providing an open-source platform; this platform is linked directly to the protocol and while it follows the set rules and the commandments laid down by the Causevest worker nodes, it gives the platform operator flexibility on allocating jobs and tasks that they believe will be useful and have a positive impact and generate new coins.
In this case, the platform itself has a right to generate a certain amount of coins and distribute them based on any work that they deem fit. His is monitored by the Causevest foundation.
What matters though is that regardless of which platform you use, you know that there’ll always be a set type of work you can do to generate new coins.
Part of the reasons of hiring operators is also to reward well the people that you do. There’re many people that already search for, maintain, validate and support the good cause around the world for free. They don’t get any rewards for it and they’re not recognized. Many people act as volunteers around the world, create free software and help causes all the time and yet nothing for it.
The idea behind the Causevest network is to create a way of rewarding these people and incentivising them to not only continue doing what they are doing, to enjoy it and to help others do the same thing.
We believe that as an operator, you can become part of the community that wants to do more than just maximise profit; that has looked into the world an decided that you can make an even greater impact than simply making money. And we want to reward that because; money is what we decide it should be.
Also, they’re a lot of hidden causes out there. A lot of good causes still fit but that are hard to find and aren’t being funded or financed by anyone and there are people doing good work with the Causevest capital can go a long way to support.
As an operator, your first line of cause is to find these causes and help them out.
ADDITIONAL JOBS AND TASKS OF AN OPERATOR
While this document is focused on internal network operators, we also have external network operators. The ability of operators to go out of their way and do additional work is down to the individual as an option. You can fundraise for individual causes, you can act as a market maker for causes and charities instalment network which we provide capital and training for as well.
These are some of the additional tasks operators can help with. Operators can also as a point of call for actions on causes located outside of the United Kingdom and outside of the West.
That being said, operators can by acting as “market makers” or by acting as “point of liaison” or “educator” for individual causes they can bring on more people to the network, help them receive the capital financing that they are gaining from the network as well and acting as a way of getting past additional barriers to entry that are left by the traditional financial services sector.
