The recently launched project aims to help farmers in Bali learn how to engage in sustainable
and profitable farming, as Bali’s sustainability is influenced by agricultural stability.
Bali’s farmlands are increasingly being replaced by unsustainable tourism developments owing
to the poor financial status of farmers. They use traditional farming methods that yield minimal
income, driving them to sell land to developers.
Through the LEISA (Low External Input Sustainable Agriculture) strategy, Green Warrior
Permaculture will teach Bali farmers how to adopt organic farming methods that will enable
them to diversify their crops. As a result, their income is expected to increase threefold within 12
months.
Farmers participating in the project will be issued tools of superior quality and will receive a
supply of non-hybrid seeds required for organic farming. The project also entails giving farmers
field academy training on an existing successful Super-Farm.
Additionally, farmers will learn about the strategies and techniques that lead to successful
organic farming. They will acquire financial resources to facilitate value addition, besides getting
a Super-Farmer label to help them sell their produce to large-scale markets.
This latest project launch is consistent with Green Warrior Permaculture’s commitment to
achieving community development through permaculture aid. By helping communities flourish
and become self-sufficient, food security is achieved.
Steve Cran, the founder of Green Warrior Permaculture, said, “Permaculture Aid gets real results
by helping people restore their community using local resources. They grow their way out of
poverty.”
