Interpretation of Ratio
Toyota has maintained a current ratio of 0.3 during the past five years,
which is substantially lower than the industry average. In contrast to the
industry average, which has grown steadily over the past five years, it has
also continued to drop.
Conversely, with the exception of 2020, when it decreased from 0.90 to
0.83, BMW's current ratio maintained its increasing trend relative to the
industry average. Nevertheless, it increased once again in 2021, to a high of
1.05
Like the current ratio, the maximum value of Toyota's fast ratio was 0.14,
which is notably less than the industry average for each year. Furthermore,
its negative trend persisted, in contrast to the industry average's five years
of consistent growth.
Though it did decline by.10 from 2019 to 2020, BMW's fast ratio increased
steadily across the industry until 2021, when it reached its highest growth
of 0.96.
In 2018, Toyota's net profit margin fell to a record low of -10.76, a
significant decrease from its 2017 level of 1.52. But during 2019 and 2020,
it increased to reach its maximum of 0.27, while the industry unexpectedly
saw a -4.5 loss.
BMW, on the other hand, continued to see consistent rise in the NPM.
BMW's NPM only decreased in 2020 and increased in 2021, despite the
industry recording a loss in 2020.
Throughout the time, Toyota's GPM had been declining; in 2019, the
industry's greatest margin of 11.72 was recorded, and the GPM had
reached its lowest point of -0.79.
In contrast, BMW's GPM increased steadily from 2017 to 2020, when it
reached a peak of 5.66. Despite a decline to 2.47 in 2020, this was reversed
in 2021 and the industry saw a rise in the same direction.
In contrast, BMW's GPM increased steadily from 2017 to 2020, when it
reached a peak of 5.66. Despite a decline to 2.47 in 2020, this was reversed
in 2021 and the industry saw a rise in the same direction.
Despite having a maximum ROCE of -10.86 in 2017, Toyota saw a significant
increase in 2018 to reach a maximum ROCE of 62.49, which was six times
higher than the industry. Later, in 2019, it saw a significant decline, which
persisted until 2021 (-0.14), when it was somewhat better than the industry
average of -42.24.
In contrast to the industry average, which has been declining since 2018,
BMW's ROCE grew steadily during the time, with the exception of 2020,
when it fell by about 50% before rising again in 2021.
