A Walking Disaster (a sample of my writing skills)
A Walking Disaster

It’s the end of the world!
The end of the world is near! It’s coming!
Run for your lives!
Funny how throughout the ages these phrases are repeated multiple times without
causing panic, fear and a raised eyebrow. The end of the world is endlessly- with
(sorry) epic failures- predicted from time to time and received with mixed reactions:
fear, disbelief, and skepticism. Nowadays, ‘the end of the world’ is most likely
treated only as a joke by most people, and the people who believe that the world is
going to end are getting mocked here and there.
Some people claim that they had seen visions of the world ending, prophesying even
the date and the signs of the end times.
But nothing happened. Everyone knows that there is only one being who knows
when the world will end: God. So they were laughed at.
But the world is going to end. But nobody knows when. Maybe it was already
beginning and we’re just too naive to see the signs. Maybe not.
Right now thou, with the path that humanity is taking, the world is going
to end much sooner.
We have reminders from our insolence of course, repeatedly from time to time and
again and again. But nobody seems to have learned a single lesson. Disasters.
Natural disasters like hurricanes, flood, typhoon, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions,
earthquakes and etc. Whenever these calamities happen it always seem like it’s the
end of the world. Houses are destroyed, trees fall over or uprooted, buildings
crumpled, a field burned to ashes, a whole city submerged underwater, and a
whole pack of victims, people, breaking down.
Pretty much like the end of the world, isn’t it? People’s lives just got destroyed in a
blink of an eye. It was a reminder; that nothing is permanent in this world, and
humans are as fragile as those infrastructures.
But do we concede to these warnings? In the end, people will always say ‘Blame
the government!’ or ‘God has forsaken us!’ Humans will always find something or
someone else to blame; except their own selves.
It was our own fault that the earth’s crust is crumbling. Our fault that we
experience unnatural weather patterns. Our fault that our atmosphere is
deteriorating. Our fault the waters and the air are collaborating to wage war on
us. Our fault that the mountains are angry. Our fault that the plants wither and
die. Our fault that our world is ending.
Maybe the end is already beginning. Maybe not. Either way we’re doing nothing but
to hasten it’s process.
We don’t need some prophecy, some evangelical guidance to know that the world is
ending- because we’re the cause of it! Are we so blind not to see what’s happening
around us? Are we really so selfish that we actually don’t care? Trash here, trash
there, and the devil may care. Build here, build there. Chop here, chop there and
burn, burn, burn. The Earth is dying.
It doesn’t take a genius to know that.
It’s not just the earth itself we’re killing; we’re destroying humanity too, we willingly
corrupt ourselves down to our very core. There’s always a fight, a murder, a rape, a
massacre, shameless stealing of the people’s money, bankruptcy, a beginning of an
impending war, corruption and etc. Human trafficking! Every single human on this
earth are born equal and free, so what right do we have to sell them as slaves or like
some other piece of furniture?! What’s worst? Those people who didn’t believe in
God and spread darkness like a plague.
We don’t know it, but we- humans; you, me, ourselves, everyone-bring destruction
in our wake.
We are nothing but a walking disaster.
