Our Mission
Yours: We promote technologies that encourage and facilitate verifying claims by
using linked data technologies.
My revision:
1) To promote technologies that facilitate verifying claims by using linked data
technologies.
2) To encourage/ promote the use of technologies that can distinguish facts from false
information to help people reach the ‘truth’ so they can make the best decisions.
3) Our mission is to aid people make the best (or better) decisions (you can insert: in
their lives) by verifying the information they have whether it is true or not by using
linked data technologies.
4) Our mission is to aid people make the best (or better) decisions (you can insert: in
their lives) by providing them facts through technologies that facilitate verifying
claims by using linked data technologies.
5) Our mission is to aid people make the best (or better) decisions (you can insert: in
their lives) by promoting technologies that facilitate verifying claims through linked
data technologies.
SUGGESTION:
No offense, but your mission is somewhat lacking. It has no impact and it lacks
the usual stimulating or inspiring feeling that someone usually gets after reading a
company/ organization’s mission. It’s vague and lacks details to what really is your
purpose or your ‘mission’.
A mission statement usually serves like a daily goal and guide to the ‘employees’;
something they must keep in mind to remember why do they (the company/ organization)
exist, who are you, to what they are doing this work for, what do they want to achieve or produce,
and to what or whom do they dedicate their effort.
I think you need to be clear on what do you mean by to “promote technologies”
such as why do you want to do it? Why do you want to promote such kind of
technology? Why do you want to encourage the use of technologies that ‘facilitate
verifying claims by using linked data technologies’?
The revisions I made are merely something I came up with by reading through
your website, but as it is it’s lacking something too since I still don’t fully know what
you really want to do by building this team.
Technology
Yours: Linked Data refers to a set of standards promoted by the W3C to create a web
of data. Linked Data extends the Web by allowing data to be directly exposed and
interlinked. This means that to access data one no longer needs to search through
websites or use proprietary APIs but can access data from disparate sources using
standardized means.
My Revision:
1) Linked Data refers to a set of standards promoted by the W3C to create a web of
data. Linked Data extends the Web by allowing data to be directly exposed and
interlinked with other related data. Meaning, one no longer needs to search through a
website or use proprietary APIs to access data, but through disparate sources using
standardized means.
2) Linked Data are a large collection of interrelated data that are directly exposed
and accessible in the Web. It is used for coordinating and reasoning of data on the
Web available in a common format and can be accessed through a collection of
technologies by W3C.

Essentials
Linked Data
Yours: Data published on the web that can be connected to other data by using the
standard →RDF data model and HTTP URIs. Ideally the data is published following
the →Data on the Web Best Practices.
My Revision: Data published on the web can be connected to other data by using the
standard RDF data model and HTTP URIs. Ideally, a data is published by following
the Data on the Web Best Practices.
Question: I’m not sure what the arrows are for exactly, are they supposed to lead to a
different link where RDF data model and HTTP URIs and Data on the Web Best
Practices is explained more? If so, the links are not working and there’s no indication
that they are links.
Open Data
Yours: Data made available to the public to be freely used, re-used and redistributed.
A growing number of governments all over the world have adopted policies
promoting the publication of Open Data. Open Government Data goes beyond
freedom of information laws in that it is proactively made available electronically by
government agencies and not just handed out on request. In Switzerland the Federal
Council approved the Open Government Data Strategy for Switzerland in April 2014.

Linked Open Data
Yours: Open Data made available using Linked Data technologies. While Open Data
it is often just some files (typically PDFs or Excel files) available for download Linked
Open Data allows directly querying datasets using the standardized query language
SPARQL. Linked Open Data also allows to directly link individual data items, this is
an essential feature to make claims verifiable and thus promote facts.

With Open Data, the files (usually PDFs or Excel files) are often available for
download. Linked Open Data allows to directly query datasets using the
standardized query language: SPARQL. Moreover, Linked Open Data allows to
directly link individual data items. This is an essential feature to make claims
verifiable and thus, promote facts.
RDF
Yours: The Resource Description Format (RDF) is a data model that shapes data as
graphs. Data item can be connected to abstract concepts as well as to real world
entities. The RDF model is more flexible than the relational database model (RDBMS)
in that it doesn’t require a fixed tabular structure of the data and allows relations not
only between tables but between arbitrary data items.

FAQ
How does Your Technology Distinguish Facts from Lies?
Yours: Well it doesn’t. Linked Data technology can give you better means to decide
whether to accept a claim as fact or not by linking it to supportive evidence or
rebuttals. By making assertions more precise they are the better object of scrutiny, by
linking them to a network of knowledge one can see what acceptance of a claim
implies.

Where do I Find Linked Data?
Yours: Several governmental agencies have started providing data as Linked Data.
DBpedia.org exposes the content of Wikipedia as Linked Data. Wikidata.org is a free
and open knowledge base that can be read and edited by both humans and machines,
Wikidata exposes all its data as Linked Data and allows querying with SPARQL.

Suggestions: Highlight (like put a color or underline or both) at the Website you’ll
mention so it’ll catch the reader’s attention and makes it easier for them to remember.
Also, highlighting websites is important when you’ll linked the website to your own
website. By linking it, I mean that when the readers clicked the highlighted website
on your website, it’ll automatically direct them to said website.
Do take note of the capitalized first letters too in the head questions.

Our Values
Knowing Facts is Essential
Yours: Without knowing the facts, we can’t make good decisions. Getting the facts
right is crucial to survive and succeed individually, as a company, and as a society.
While we might never be able to know with absolute certainty if a statement about a
fact is true or false, technology can greatly help us making good judgements.
FactsMission will help organizations and individuals adopt and make the best use of
such technologies.
My Revision:
1) Without knowing the facts, we can’t make good decisions. Getting the facts right
is crucial to survive and to succeed as an individual, as a company, and as a society.
How can we know if we got our facts right? While we might never know with
absolute certainty if a statement about a fact is true or false, technology can greatly
help us in making good judgments about these. FactsMission will help organizations
and individuals adopt and use these technologies to their best.

Now is the Time to Act
Yours: On one hand, it was never more necessary, on the other hand we never had
better technologies to achieve it.
The times when truth-relativism was a harmless academic gimmick or even an
emancipating story of liberation are long gone. The idea that there is no truth is not
only used by authoritarian regimes to dismiss the quest for objectivity as propaganda
but is more and more corroding the foundation even of established democracies.
The good news is, that we now have the technologies that turn the web into a huge
decentralized database with cryptographically ascertained authorities and which
allow to express statements about facts in a concise and verifiable manner.

Suggestions: try using some capital letters and not just a whole bunch of small letters.
Sure, lowercase letters have its certain charm, but you’re a website providing
information and facts so you should try to make it look like an academic or formal
website.
Suggestions on the Overall Website:
I know that the website is relatively new, but try to make it more interactive and put
some posts soon. The color theme is okay, but try to make the background stable and
the “content space” as something that moves. Put on some pictures too. The logo is
absolutely witty by the way, I have no problems with it. So yeah, overall I really think
what your missing is something that will make the website more “interactive” or at
least fun to browse with. I’m not saying that it’s not, the colors are really stimulating
to the senses. But once you’ve put something in it and it’s relatively long? The colors
might hurt the readers eyes for a bit and it’ll bore them if it’s just stationary
throughout the whole article. Make your website move.
Also, you might want to try to promote it once you have something put up in it.
