DO THIS LESS, FULFILL YOUR PURPOSE MORE
You don't get the gist right?
Wait! I have whole time to explain to you.
This morning after executing few tasks, I took to my phone to share few words on my
WhatsApp status - which I ater shared on other platforms - with the purpose of making a few
learn. Yes, a few. Even, the successful and teachable ones in this universe are but a few.
Well, purpose achieved but with a demand to do more.
Among the few that viewed my status and ready to understand more, a request came that I
should explain every bit of the words on my status. Not just for the individual but for the public
too. That's humanity on a part.
I agreed with that. Before that let me show you what I posted.
Here it is...
My mentors and my inner circle will say "If it's for the likes, views, comments and others, you
will lose the purpose of it."
Let's talk a walk while I explain. I can't afford to miss the coffee time from the café few blocks
away.
The world today has been engineered such a way that our existence supersedes that from before.
You can't compare the Stone Age, Industrial Age and Information Age except you will have to
agree that we are beyond. As much as I will love to live to see more, I fear the impacts of our
innovations on our being.
What have you become of innovations?
Today - which don't usually happen from before, people live for social acceptance, evaluation
and satisfaction. Those can be important in cases but it has contributed to the increasing mental
unhealthiness. A state wherein you render yourself more like nothing when the society decides
to turn the blind spot on you. Well, you thought they did but they didn't in the actual sense. You
did.
Your thoughts are only manifesting and as such, you seem the world is not for you and choose
the lonely path to thread. It can be depressing.
That's the effect of seeking social acceptance or evaluation.
Main thing here.
Today in our world, the social media world, people often see likes, comments, shares, views and
others as means of social endorsement that you are actually delivering immeasurable values. To
the ones having thousands of it, you praise them and to those with little or none of it, you look
away from them. I can tell you that you've lost a great deal and made a mistake.
While those can actually be a source to make a review and see what part of your purpose gets
more of people attention and can be served better, it can also result to a big problem in
achieving your purpose when you focus too much on that. Then, you will start thinking nobody
likes you around there, no one is even appreciating you, perhaps your works are just useless as
nothing. Before you know it, you are down and you've stopped dishing values. While the
oblivious to you is that somewhere on the planet of social media, people are landing on your
page everyday to learn. Only that, they forget to comment or like. It's not actually a bad habit.
There are stories of how some people became great or leaders while they were unaware that
some individuals, organizations or cooperation are monitoring their presence and progress only
to be contacted at some point and the rest became history.
What you can do for yourself is not to focus your energy on the likes, comments and others
while you are dropping values anywhere. Either you or they like it or not, it is all appreciated.
However, it can't be argued that not a single person will not want the likes, comments and
views. Everybody does but you need to train your subconscious such that your goal will be that
you fulfill a purpose while doing it. Otherwise, your purpose will slip away and what you will be
left with is the struggle to satisfy those who will never read or view your work.
On the other hand while you get those, don't be carried away with it. If you allow that, you are
playing around a mountain cliff which before you know it, you've sustained lot of injuries you
may heal or may not heal from, with time.
Bottom line.
It is okay to get likes, comments and views while you are dishing values but you should not see
it as a benchmark for fulfilling your purpose. Though, you can be wise by making a review out of
it and see where you can serve people better and more.
Ultimately, your recognition will come with what you represent. That time, you will go beyond
likes, comments and views.
Bye!
Oh Gosh! We walked past and it's past time. I missed the coffee time. Black coffee can be...
