The Great Lake Tanganyika
An Incredible African Experience

Searching for your next epic trip after this pandemic? Maybe you’ll want to check
out the world’s longest freshwater lake which is Lake Tanganyika.
An oasis for evolution, Lake Tanganyika’s alkaline water is as clear as the
mountain air. It will surely take your breath away once you take a deep dive and
marvel with its beautiful underwater landscape teeming with marine life.
The name "Tanganyika" apparently refers to "the great lake spreading out like a plain", or "plain-like lake".
Lake Tanganyika is mostly known for its super diverse species of Cichlid fish you’ll
never find anywhere in the world and the reason why cichlid enthusiasts would
die to visit this African Great Lake. It is said that the lake’s marine population is so
diverse it almost mimics that of the ocean. The beauty of the world’s
second-oldest freshwater lake would surely erase all the stress you’ve had
accumulated during the past months. And I’m certain that seeing those colorful
cichlids, pristine beaches, and that stunning sunset will surely give you a one of a
kind African experience.
If you want to see more about Lake Tanganyika, here’s an aerial view of one of the
fascinating beaches of the lake captured by Birds View Burundi, plus here’s an
amazing underwater clip by Alfredo Reis Deus. And you may want to check out
