//Home and Away// The beautiful resort of Playa Blanca is an ideal location from which to take a trip and discover a bit more of the surrounding area. The Colonel’s House at La Oliva is an impressive architectural sight against the vast desert plains, while the ancient capital of Betancuria is also well worth a visit. The volcanic isle of La Graciosa lies two kilometres north of Lanzarote and takes 35 minutes to reach by ferry or luxury catamaran from the Port of Órzola. Graciosa’s dazzling mountains and sandy volcanic coasts are a sight to behold and the Yellow Mountain Beach is a beautiful location to catch a few rays. //Shopping and sightseeing// Closer to Playa Blanca, there are sights to suit every taste. For the ultimate in relaxation, while away the day aboard a glass-bottomed catamaran watching the fish swim beneath you… More active options include a visit to Teguise, the former capital and a charming town with 17th century buildings featuring wood and stone carvings. The town hosts a Sunday market along its ancient cobbled streets, while musicians entertain shoppers with panpipe music and folklore dancing in the town square. A trip to the impressive lava fields at Timanfaya National Park is a great family day out. Guides will take you right up close to the action in Montañas del Fuego, while the crater route gives a glimpse of stunning lava flows and an abundance of colour. You can even take a camel ride. //Rest and relaxation// There are plenty of traditional villages across the island to have a spot of lunch, including Las Breñas which affords spectacular panoramic views. The vineyards at La Geria are the ideal place to indulge in some wine tasting, while El Golfo hosts the stunning green lagoon. If you look closely, you might see the semi-precious Olivin stone nestled amongst the rocks. Playa Blanca and its surrounds offer the ultimate backdrop within which to relax and let the worries of the world slip away.
