Remember that dress you saw and fell in love with and you came back the next day with your mom to get only to find that they don't have your size!? Or the day you planned to go out with your friends to see this new awesome movie but all your seven friends, yes ALL, of them bailed on you!? Tomorrow's meeting or today's since it is 12:41 is cancelled for lots of reasons. We were and still are excited to meet with you guys for your training, but it seems that the odds isn't in our favor these days. We will notify you soon of the new timing. " ‫ كروستفور كلومبوس‬- "‫ال يمكنك أن تعبر المحيط حتى يكون لديك الشجاعه بأن ال تري الشاطئ‬ ‫دي كانت أول حاجة أستاذ شريف الصناديلي كتبها في اإليميل اللي بعته لينا بيحكي فيه إزاي وصل للمركز اللي هو فيه دلوقتي‬ ‫ أكيد انت قريت كتير قبل كدة الجمل و المقوالت المشهورة اللي هدفها انها تحسسك إنك قادر تعمل أي حاجة‬.‫في مايكروسوفت‬ ‫ لألسف بقينا نسمع الكالم ده كتير و نفضل بس فاكرينه لفترة صغيرة و بعدين‬.‫و تشجعك إنك تشتغل عشان تخلي حلمك حقيقة‬ ‫نحس تاني إن مافيش حاجة صح و إن من الصعب إن أحالمك تتحقق‬. .‫ فكر هي ليه عجبتك و معناها ايه و هل انت فعالً حاسس بالكالم ده وال أل‬,‫حاول المرة الجاية لما تقرا جملة كدة و تعجبك‬ ‫األستاذ شريف قرر إنه فعالً يعبر المحيط و أدرك إن األهداف عشان تتحقق الزم الواحد يبقى شجاع انه يبعد عن بر األمان و‬ ‫يحط نفسه في مواقف تمتحنه و تطور من شخصيته‬. ‫أستاذ شريف بدأ دراسته الجامعية في الجامعة األمريكية بالقاهرة و بعد سنة قرر أنه عايز يجرب حاجات جديدة فعمل كل اللي‬ ‫ و فعالُ كمل‬.‫يقدر عليه عشان يأخذ منحة كرة سلة رياضية للدراسة في جامعة نورث كارولينا بالواليات المتحدة األمريكية‬ ‫دراسته في جامعة نورث كارولينا و بعد مجهود و تعب قدر انه يتخرج بباكلريوس تسويق‬. ‫ اشتغل في شركات اتصاالت كبيرة في قسم التسويق زي موبينيل‬.‫ أستاذ شريف كمل رحلة عمله بنجاح‬,‫بعد تخرجه من الجامعة‬ ‫ و موبايلي في السعودية و‬TE Data ‫ و‬ITWorx ‫ خالل عمله في الشركات المختلفة اكتسب مهارات‬.‫و أخيرا ً مايكروسوفت‬ ‫و خبرات كتيرة‬. ‫"و في إيميله برده كتب "الزم يكون عندنا الشجاعة اننا نعترف اننا عايزين نتعلم و نستكشف اّفاق جديدة في كل حاجة بنعملها‬ ‫أسأل نفسك هل عندك الشجاعة انك تخرج من النطاق اللي انت مرتاح فيه و تدور على فرص جديدة؟ الزم يكون عندك‬ ‫ ربنا عايزك هنا‬.‫ الزم تعرف إنك هنا لسبب‬.‫ الزم يكون عندك الدافع و الحماس إنك تعرف انت موجود هنا ليه‬.‫الشجاعه ديه‬ ‫ دور على الحاجة اللي انت حابب تعملها و شايف نفسك انك تقدر تعملها لحد اّخر يوم‬.‫ دور عليه‬.‫في المكان و الزمان ده لسبب‬ ‫ فا حط هدف و اشتغل عليه و خلي عندك أمل و ثقة في ربنا‬.‫في حياتك‬. “You can never cross the ocean until you have the courage to lose sight of the shore”– Christopher Columbus. How accurate is that!? Christopher Columbus knew exactly what he was talking about. He just unlocked the key...oh wait! Are you lost!? You probably think that we are some random people who think that they know how life works and write a book about the mystery of life. Well, here is the thing. We are not! We are just trying to survive in this hectic life. We recently received an e-mail from Mr.Sherif El-Sanadily, a Microsoft employee, where he described the journey he took to reach theplace he is in right now. The first thing he mentioned was this quote that we mentioned earlier, and you probably rolled your eyes when you read it because you have heard thousands of similar words like these before. You are right. We all have heard these words before not just you. We hear them, but we rarely get what is written behind the lines. Mr.Sherif El-Sanadily started his journey in theAmerican University of Cairo where he studied there for one year. He felt the need to challenge himself and enhance his education so, he did all what he can do to get a scholarship, as a basketball player, at the University of North Carolina. He had one goal at that time that he wanted to achieve, a goal to graduate from the University of North Carolina with Bachelor degree of Marketing. Guess what? He did it! He had the enough courage to travel to a total different place to search for new challenges and opportunities that will put him on the right track to fulfill his wishes from life. After graduating with a Bachelor degree of Marketing, he continued his journey towards achieving success. He was recruited to join major telecommunications companies in several marketing roles. From Mobinil, Mobily in Saudi Arabia, TE Data, ITWorx and finally Microsoft, he faced challenging situations and met different people that helped him to test himself and acquire new technical skills and opportunities. In his e-mail he said “We need to have the courage to be blunt about wanting to learn and exploring new potential in everything we do.” Ask yourself do you have the courage to cross your comfort zone to search for new possibilities. You should have the courage. You should have that drive inside you that pushes you to work and search for the reason behind your existence. You should know that you are here for a reason. God wanted you to be here at that place and at that time. It is your job to find that reason, find the passion and find the courage to achieve thegoal you have decided on. Keep in mind that God, himself, will always be there to guide you and that “You can never cross the ocean until you have the courage to lose sight of the shore”–Christopher Columbus Just close your eyes and imagine yourself sitting on a comfy big leather chair looking at the beautiful city view from the 21st floor. You are wearing a suit/dress from your favorite designer that was specifically made for you. You lean back in your chair and you feel the cold crisp air of your office. Behind you there is a big brown office desk where there is a hot cup of coffee from your favorite café and papers that you have to sign later. There is a knock on your office’s door, and you know what enough with the daydreaming. Get back to real life! Obviously, you will have to work for all of that to happen. You will have to know what to do to successfully build a startup that will turn into a business empire. It is definitely not going to be easy. We gathered 12 points that will set you on the right track to your 21st floor office, well I mean your successful business. 1- Make sure that your “Big Idea” is unique or if it has a market find something that will make your product standout in the market. 2- Don’t take a “No” for an answer There will always be people who will try to discourage you. They will try to find faults in your plan and tell you that “You won’t make it!" Firmly believe in yourself and in your project and go for it ! 3- Set the mission and vision of your startup to always remind yourself why you started it in the first place. 4- Test the waters first Don’t go with all that you got in the market. Start with a prototype then expand 5- Keep an eye on the finances . Know how much capital you can start with and carefully set your finance plan 6 -Be flexible Things don’t always work the way we imagined they will. Don’t give up or lose hope. Be open to changes. You don’t need to have a strategy for every action that you are going to take it. You never know what new opportunities you will find due to the change. 7- Know your strengths and weaknesses 8- Hire the right people. Don’t be afraid to hire someone who knows more than you. Hire people with skills that will complement you not duplicate you. 9- Expand your social network 10- Listen to your costumers "Your most unhappy costumers are your greatest source of learning” – Bill Gates 11 -Learn from your mistake We make mistakes to realize that what we were doing was wrong. Learn your lesson, stand up again and work again ! 12 -Always be on your toes, watch the market and keep learning All in all, it is going be tiring and time consuming in the beginning, but remember hard work never fails to get you to your 21st floor office !
