Dated : 20th January, 2016.
STORY
The story revolves around a boy named John 14 years old and his parents. His mother Elizabeth and
father Peter. They are Anglo Indians and it is based in a north Indian town of Kanpur. John observes
from his childhood that his father is having financial problems with the escalating cost of diesel, year
after year of how to manage the household expenses. Peter owns a diesel car and is a taxi driver by
profession. Elizabeth is an ordinary household wife as she doesn’t earn with no professional skills.
John is an observant boy and is much interested in Science from early childhood. As he is growing
up, he sees the almost daily conflict of his parents due to the escalating cost of diesel every year on
account of, how to manage the household expenses with meagre income of his father. In his mind,
he wants to help his dad.
He has a toy car which, he himself made which runs on battery. John, thinks that if the battery is
removed or filled with water inside the battery instead of regular battery liquid; can the car run is a
burning question that torments his mind. Then, he makes some calculations and formulae. In this
way, he spends a lot of time writing and making notes.
Then, one fine morning, he gets the answer for his problems after many failed attempts. He believed
in the saying ‘ try, try until; you succeed ’ . He removed the battery from the car and emptied the
battery liquid. After that, put water inside the battery and placed it back in the car. Then, pressed
the GO button on the car's remote. The toy car moved and he shouted Eureka, Eureka. I discovered
it.
John by nature is shy and quite an introvert as a child. He has only one friend Oliver. He tells his
discovery to him. First Oliver did not believe him but when he actually saw it, his joy knew no
bounds. John asks for a promise, telling Oliver not to tell anyone about his new discovery. He agrees
and so, no one knows about this Eureka phenomenon.
Oliver asks John to cooperate as he would help his friend. Then, takes out; his smart phone and
records, the entire event. Removal of the battery from the car. Drains out the battery liquid. Puts
water inside the battery. Again, the water filled battery is put inside the car. Then, the GO button on
the car's remote is activated and the car starts moving. John increases, the speed of the car and it is
almost flying in the air. It moves in all directions – forward, backward, left, right, circular motion and
straight line motion.
He then, puts the videos on the social media with the caption ‘ Toy car running on water ' and giving
the details of the inventor. The video goes viral in no time.
It catches, the attention of one Professor Osaka, Head of Automotive Engineering in Tokyo
University. Osaka contacts John and comes to meet him in his house at Kanpur. He sees , the
invention for himself and records an entire video on his cell phone. He asked John, how he could do
this? John hands over all the notes to Professor Osaka. Professor tells him to wait for a few days as
he wants to study them.
Elizabeth and Peter are aghast. They simply couldn’t believe of all that is happening before their
eyes. Osaka returns after 5 days to John. He asks him to sign on a paper and tells him that he would
get 100 million Yen which is about 92, 000 USD for his discovery. John simply was mesmerized and
was at a loss of words. He only said that he loved his work and wanted to help his dad.
Osaka told them that, he was working on this project for last 20 years but no success awaited him.
He then told them that John would be admitted to his department of Automotive Engineering in
Tokyo University with a scholarship with free boarding and lodging.
The entire scenario changes. They bought a new house and a new car which is a pilot car for John’s
discovery gifted by Osaka. John becomes a celebrated scientist. Story ends with captions.

Elizabeth: How would I manage the household when you are giving the same amount each year.
Peter, you don’t even increase the household amount.
Peter : Elizabeth, are you mad? Seems, you are blind too. Don’t you see that the diesel prices are
going up each year and sometimes, even twice a year. How, will I manage? I can’t even increase my
taxi fares is the biggest problem and tragedy. The worst part, the fares are controlled by the State.
Elizabeth: I am going crazy. How will I manage everything with that meagre amount?
Peter: No more of this now, I have to get some pending payments from an office.
