Key Drivers for SaaS in SME sector
No huge initial investment
SaaS operates on a pay-as-you-go model with
no large upfront fees. You just pay a monthly or
annual subscription fee to use CRM as a service.
This is one of the reasons why SaaS is usually
favored by midsize companies who are careful
about how they invest their budgets into new
systems – even if it’s considered business
critical.
Easier Management and
Maintenance
For the most part, a SaaS solution is managed
and maintained through the SaaS provider. This
takes the burden off of a small business owner
to have to manage the availability of their own
applications. Many small business owners won't
require an internal IT department with the help
of a SaaS platform.
Seamless Third-Party Integration
Complete Accessibility
Many SaaS offerings already come with thirdparty integration built in. Small business owners
will be able to run multiple services that can all
work together, thereby mimicking the
infrastructure of far larger enterprises. CRM
solutions, ERP platforms, and e-Commerce
portals can all be linked together at a relatively
low cost.
Because SaaS solutions are accessed through the
web, they are available on virtually any device.
From smartphones to laptops, anything that has
a browser can generally connect to the solution.
This makes it easier for small business owners
to work while on the go.

SaaS to PaaS – Transition to new model
The SaaS segment of cloud services accounts for 68.7% of the market share, yet the market has the
slowest growth compared to Platform as a Service (PaaS). PaaS, which only accounts for 13.6% of the
cloud market share, grew 50.2% year-over year. By comparison, the SaaS market only grew 22.9% yearover-year.
It is no surprise that PaaS are outpacing SaaS as companies look to integrate more personalized
technologies. Companies reluctant to transition entirely to the cloud often look to hybrid-cloud
offerings.
