Date: February 6, 2007
Time: Approximately 9:25 AM (Pacific Time)
Interviewer: Mae Amada
Interviewee: Kenji Han
Mae Amada: Okay, this is Mae Amada. Today’s date is February 6, 2007. The time
is approximately 9:25 AM, that’s Pacific Time. Do you understand that this is being
recorded, and do I have your permission to do so?
Kenji Han: Yes, ma’am.
Mae Amada: Alright. Please state your full name.
Kenji Han: Kenji Han.
Mae Amada: Okay, Kenji Han. When was the date of loss?
Kenji Han: What is…?
Mae Amada: When did the accident happen?
Kenji Han: Oh, it was yesterday. Uh, what was yesterday’s date again?
Mae Amada: Okay.
Kenji Han: The 5th of January.
Mae Amada: Alright. About what time?
Kenji Han: Let’s see… it was about—I wanna say 9:30? I’m not exactly sure, though.
Mae Amada: That’s—
Kenji Han: Yeah, around 9:30, I think.
Mae Amada: A.M., right?
Kenji Han: Yes.
Mae Amada: How was the weather at the time?
Kenji Han: Uh, it was a little brisk, kind of cold. But, I mean, other than that…
Mae Amada: It wasn’t snowing or anything like that?
Kenji Han: No, no snow.
Mae Amada: Okay. What street were you on?
Kenji Han: I was turning from the... Condominiums. I was coming out of there—the
exit near the main office. I’d just visited a friend, and I had to handle something they
left on my door. I was leaving, so...
Mae Amada: Okay, so you were in the parking lot. Were you pulling out onto a main
street or an avenue?
Kenji Han: Uh, I was pulling out onto Denver Road, that’s the road right there, so...
Mae Amada: Got it. So tell me what happened once you stopped—at the stop line or
light—to pull out?
Kenji Han: Okay, so I was just stopped. Well—it’s not a stop sign exactly, but I was
pulling out onto Airport Road from the employee housing, so...
Mae Amada: Okay. So—
Kenji Han: I was just there, stopped, getting ready to pull out to the left, and...
Mae Amada: Alright, so there’s no traffic device?
Kenji Han: What do you mean?
Mae Amada: Like—there’s no stop sign or traffic light?
Kenji Han: No, not really. I mean, maybe there’s a stop sign, but I don’t think so. It’s
just an apartment exit. I don’t remember if it had one or not. But I stopped anyway.
Mae Amada: Okay.
