Case study
The Food and Beverage Director should hire training service to help overcome the prevailing atmosphere and poor service. This is because majority of the employees are drawn from the local community and may lack the necessary skills, especially when dealing with international customers. Secondly, the older employees are aware of the culture of the resort, and therefore may not gain much from the internal team of trainers. Finally, there could be a problem which has taken long without solution. By contracting an outside trainer, the waiters and staff will open up and speak up the hidden problem. Once the problem is solved, it will no longer be an influencer on the new employees.
The Food and Beverage Director has to consider following successive processes in fixing the problem and initiating. There is need to recognize that a problem exists that hinders the performance of the waiters and staff. The situation should then be assessed to propose necessary interventions. The intervention could be improving terms of service such increasing remunerations, training and introducing work leaves. A plan of action is then developed, after which the intervention is implemented. Proper structures are required to monitor and give feedback on the progress of the changes. This will fix the problem.
