Task 1 - Finding Competitors
Task 1 – Finding Ideal Sellers
For this exercise, you are to find sellers on Amazon that may be considered competitors based on
specific criteria. Read the instructions carefully so that you will not miss any step.
1. Open this Google Sheet: Competitor Tracker Template.
2. “Make a copy” of the template then rename the file from “Competitor Tracker” to your complete
name.
3. Set the sharing settings of your copy to “Anyone with the link” can “View”.
4. Once done, go to amazon.com. On the upper left side of the homepage, click Deliver to: then
change the zip code to 90210. Click Apply then Done.
5. Click the menu icon (3 horizontal lines) on the upper left side. Select Grocery & Gourmet Food
under the Food & Grocery department to narrow down your search.
6. Select any product from the results page to open the listing. You can expand your search
through the other sub-categories of Grocery & Gourmet Food as shown on the left side of the
page.
7. Access the different sellers of the product by clicking on any links as shown in the picture below:
8. Look for Prime sellers with 3,000 to 75,000 lifetime feedback and over 100 feedback in the
last 12 months.
In this example, the seller “Primary Health” looks like they might qualify.
*Note: you'll see that others qualify as well but for the sake of brevity we'll only use Primary
Health in this example.
9. Click the seller’s name then check the feedback table. If it meets the criteria of the feedback
count for both 12 months and lifetime, copy the seller’s name then paste it on Column A of the
template you initially downloaded.
10. Next, get the link to the seller’s storefront by doing a right-click on the hyperlink below the
seller’s name, then select Copy link address as shown below:
Paste the link into Column B of the template.
11. Finally, indicate the 12-month feedback count into Column C and the lifetime feedback
count into Column D.
Collect a total of 5 competitors.
