Types of Wreaths
There are hundreds of different types of wreaths to decorate with. From head bands to wall hangings, they can be used in a multitude of ways. Wreaths can be symbolic, traditional, or completely random. You can make them to suite the taste of the person creating or purchasing the wreath.
Wreaths aren’t just for your Ggrandma to hang up over the holidays and then forget to take down until the decorations are caked with dust. With countless styles, shapes, colors, materials, and materials that can be used to create a wreath, you can use them for any number of occasions.
Any holiday is a great excuse to hang up a wreath. Christmas, of course, is the most popular. Evergreen wreaths—decorated with red and green ribbons, ornaments, and pinecones---are popular to see hanging up on front doors. But a wreath can be decorated to match any holiday. Valentine wreaths can be red with paper hearts; Easter can have pastel- colored eggs; fFourth of July can be decorated with American flags; and Halloween can have glittery orange and black ribbons.
Don’t forget the seasons either! There are colors and symybols associated with Sspring, Ssummer, Ffall, and Wwinter, and these can easily be incorporated when decorating a wreath.
Wreaths can also be decorated for specific occasions, such as birthdays, graduations, baby showers, and weddings. These can be extra fun to order or create as they can perfectly reflect the person they are being created for.
Not all wreaths are hung up outside the house for decoration. They can be used as headbands, as well. In ancient Greek and Roman days, garlands were frequently worn to denote wealth and status, as well as for Olympic prizes. Today, they are dainty additions to wedding party attire. Flower girls are frequently seen wearing garlands, while even the bride will sometimes have a flower wreath woven into her own hair. They are a gorgeous addition to any wedding outfit, especially more natural weddings or those set outside in the spring or summer months.
Wreaths come in all different shapes and sizes. The most common wreath shape is circular, but they can also be shaped as an oval, star, heart, square, or really any shape at all. Sizes of wreaths also differ. If you glance through the wreath section of any craft store, you will quickly see that the basic frame of the wreath can come in any size you want. Be sure to remember when shopping for the right size of frame that you will be adding to it;, the wreath will most likely be several inches bigger than it was originally.
The materials for a wreath are as broad as your imagination. Most wreaths are made out of some type of tree greenery or twigs, and they can be decorated with nature objects and ribbon. However, wreaths can be made from materials ranging from newspaper to popcorn. Anything light enough to be supported by the wreath base and reasonably sized to fit on the wreath can be used.
