Amid Major 'Snow White' Controversy, Gal Gadot Says No One Wants To Here Her Blab About
Politics
Actress Gal Gadot, who without a doubt was the hottest Wonder Woman to ever grace the silver
screen -- though Lynda Carter was a genuine fox as well -- recently stated she's keeping her
political opinions to herself and out of the spotlight, which is honestly a sweet breath of fresh air
in an age where anyone and everyone has become a front line activist. Or plays as one on
social media.
Gadot sat down for a chat with Variety ahead of the release of her new movie, the live-action
Disney remake of Snow White, saying that she no longer discusses politics publicly after
everything that went down with the horrific terrorist attack on Israel back on October 7, 2023.
"Because who cares about the celebrity talking about politics?" Gadot, 39, who hails from Israel,
said. "I’m an artist. I want to entertain people. I want to bring hope and be a beacon of light
whenever I say anything about the world."
Gadot's comments come as her new film is getting beaten over the head with a proverbial club
thanks in large part to her co-star, Rachel Zegler, who plays the title character, consistently
popping off with political commentary on social media and during interviews to promote the
movie.
The Israeli actress plays the role of the Evil Queen, which is quite a departure from the kind of
roles she's played previously, especially that of Wonder Woman.
According to a source close to Zegler spoke with PEOPLE on Friday, March 14, and said that
the actress "has nothing in common with Gal Gadot, a mom of four kids."
“On top of that, their political views differ, adding to the tension,” the source went on to explain.
"Zegler and Gadot have appeared at multiple events to promote their long-delayed film,
including at Disney’s D23 Expo in 2022 and at the recent Academy Awards, where they took the
stage to present the Best Visual Effects category together," the report continued.
The Wonder Woman star was not in attendance at the film's European premiere in Spain on
March 12, however someone close to the situation said that Gadot was not scheduled to be at
the European premiere as she was in New York doing press.
"This isn’t like a 'stay away from me' situation," the latter insider went on to say of the actresses'
relationship. "They were at the Oscars together. They'll be together this weekend."
Gadot did attend the film's premiere in Los Angeles.
It's easy to understand why the two might have a bit of a strained working relationship seeing as
Zegler is openly, passionately supportive of the Palestinians in the current conflict with Israel.
During the conversation with Variety, Gadot stated that she's "not a hater," explaining that the
current situation unfolding with Israel and Hamas is something very personal for her.
"I’m a grandchild of a Holocaust survivor who came to Israel and established his family from
scratch after his entire family was erased in Auschwitz," she told the publication. "And on the
other side of my family, I’m eighth generation Israeli. I’m an indigenous person of Israel.”
She then explained her support for the Israelis who were taken hostage by Hamas saying she
was "all about humanity" and "felt like I had to advocate for" those who had been taken captive.
"I know what I’m advocating for, and I know what I wish for the world," she said. “I am praying
for better days for all. I want everybody to have good life and prosperity, and the ability to raise
their children in a safe environment," she said.
