Former MCU Star Wants Second Chance To Prove Critics Wrong About His Portrayal Of Classic
Character
Former MCU Actor Pleads For Second Crack At Classic Character After Critics Trashed His
Performance
With the successful relaunch of the hit Daredevil series, which moved over to Disney+ and the
Marvel Cinematic Universe, from Netflix after an almost seven year hiatus, another classic
character and fellow member of the Defenders is dying for a second crack at the small screen.
Actor Finn Jones, who played the role of the kung fu martial arts master, Iron Fist -- who delivers
a brutal wallop that lives up to his superhero moniker -- has tossed his name into the hat for
consideration, going on to say, "I'm here and I'm ready."
The last time Jones took up the mantle of Danny Rand was seven years ago in season two of
the Netflix series Iron Fist and the Avengers-esque The Defenders, which featured a legendary
team-up of Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and of course, Iron Fist.
However, fans and critics weren't too pleased with how Jones portrayed the martial arts based
superhero, which has raised questions about Marvel including Iron Fist in future plans for the
MCU. But thanks to the smashing success of Daredevil: Born Again, some are expressing hope
that Danny Rand might show up some time down the road.
According to IGN, Jones pleaded his case for a second opportunity to play Rand while
participating in an anime convention, going on to acknowledge the validity of the criticism he
received for his portrayal of Iron Fist.
“[There is a] willingness for the fans to see that happen,” Jones said to the audience during the
convent when he was asked if there was a chance he could return as Iron Fist. “There’s a lot of
willingness for the fans to see that not happen as well. I’m very aware of the critiques of the
character and my role in it. My response to that is like, give me a f***ing chance, man. I’m here
and I’m ready. I want to prove people wrong. So I would love to see that happen.”

Something else that leaves the door open for a return of Iron Fist -- though whether Marvel will
give Jones a second chance remains to be seen -- is that Daredevil: Born Again is not a reboot,
but a continuation of the story that started when the series was in its Netflix era.
Which means that the other series Netflix produced, such as Defenders, Luke Cage, The
Punisher, and Jessica Jones, are now officially canon in the MCU. Filmmakers and showrunners
can now pull plot threads from all of these series in order to make new content and introduce
characters viewers haven't seen for years. In fact, the Punisher, played by Jon Bernthal, has
already made the move from Netflix to the MCU by making an appearance in Daredevil: Born
Again.
