Are you planning your travel escape yet?
Many of you who view my content are passionate for travel and creating new memories of unforgettable
experiences. That is how I view travel. It's worth more than most material riches and reminds you of just
how beautiful our world is. Also, as a rising filmmaker, I am always on the lookout for places that could
inspire my next film or production.
During my online search for luxury hotels and resorts in the Caribbean, I found a hotel and spa that
opened to guests November 2016. It is Le Barthélemy Hotel & Spa. From the press releases I've read
about it, this resort is creating quite a buzz. The information given below comes from online research and
speaking with members of the Le Barthélemy Hotel & Spa's public relations. I think it might peak your
interest for consideration in your next winter and spring travel plans.
Le Barthélemy Hotel & Spa
Breathtaking, stylish, and pristine white sandy beaches are just a few ways to describe the FrenchCaribbean island of St. Barts (short for Saint-Barthélemy). Although known as a hot spot for the rich and
famous, St. Barts also attracts many other passionate travelers who are looking for unforgettable
adventures, beaches that are not as crowded, and accommodations offering a tranquil experience.

In my online search, I came upon Le Barthélemy Hotel & Spa. The hotel opened to guests on November
1, 2016 and is set on a crescent shaped beach located on Grand Cul de Sac. As part of a nature reserve,
the hotel offers 46 rooms and suites with breezy interiors designed by acclaimed french designer Sybille
de Margerie and cuisine from Michelin-starred chef Guy Martin.
The spa is in partnership with the skincare line La Mer and offers a range of services including treatments
using organic, antioxidant-rich, paraben-free essential oils crafted in Provence, France. It also provides
Moroccan-style hammam, signature rain shower with an essential oils experience, soothing tea service,
24 hour fitness center, and a hair and nail salon. Le Barthélemy Hotel & Spa states that they provide their
guests with a dedicated team of highly-trained skincare estheticians.
The hotel and spa provides a variety of additional amenities for guests to enjoy a stress-free and relaxing
vacation. For parents who desire fun family activities, the hotel hosts hands-on cooking classes. Families
may also find activities such as treasure hunts, sand castle contests, and kayaking. If you need a little
alone time, the hotel offers babysitting services for your children.

Hotel information and photography used in this blog post were provided by Le Barthélemy Hotel & Spa
and the Decker/Royal Agency. I would like to provide a special thank you to Kristin Sluyk and Devyn
Barker from the Decker/Royal Agency public relations firm.
The hotel offers four dining experiences including St. Barths, offering lighter cuisine during the day (e.g.,
homemade pizzas), and evening dining at Aux Amis for french and international cuisine. For those who
want to eat in the midst of St. Barts natural surroundings, Le Barthélemy Hotel & Spa offers the "Picnic
Chic" concept. Guests can request packed hampers filled with such favorites and treats as roasted
chicken and beverages. These picnics also provide necessities, such as beach chairs and a signature
fouta beach blanket

Your Brand: How To Cut Through The
Noise
Through social media and other online tools, it's easier and cheaper than ever (even free) to connect and
engage your brand with a global audience. Unfortunately, you have to cut through a lot noise among
millions of other competing brands online to connect with your desired audience. Also, the public doesn't
want to feel pushed into buying something. Today's consumers are careful with where, how, and why they
spend their money in this post-recession period.
So, how can a brand cut through the competitor noise and gain the attention and purchase consideration
of a savvy audience?
A good start is to understand the power of brand engagement as a way to build an emotional bond with
your audience. Your brand is who you are and what you are about. So, authenticity is core to that.
Second, shape your message to engage your audience with helpful and entertaining content. Show how
your brand can fulfill a lifestyle need or desire of a consumer without the obvious sales push. Draw the
people into what makes you special and how you would treat them special.
According to the Entrepreneur.com's "4 Digital Advertising Trends That Are Reshaping Advertising" ,
mobile advertising and native advertising are among the trends. Brands should invest time in mobile tools
to engage with the audience and also create posts that inform and entertain instead of directly selling a
product. Native advertising will resemble the content that a website or social media site hosts (e.g., blog
posts that inform and entertain). Article: http://www.entrepreneur.com/article/242393.
As an author, who is also a filmmaker and recording artist, I enjoy connecting on an emotional and even
spiritual level with the world. My supporters and fan friends who enjoy and share information about my
brand and I have found a positive connection to our message and the kind of experiences we share with
them. The biggest lessons are that everyone wants to experience a life filled with opportunities, joy, room
to be who you are, and excitement for something good that is about to happen. I wanted my brand, or the
message that I create through my work and products, to represent these positive experiences in my one
unique way.
Keep these lessons in mind, and never forget to have fun!

Disrupt
Female Filmmaker To
Film Industry And Introduce New Movie
Heroine
From the all women Ghostbusters to Ocean's 8, we are
seeing trends of all-female reboots of films originally
inhabited by a dominate male cast. We also have
blockbuster films with powerful female roles based on the
Marvel and DC comics (Wonder Woman) who are cleaning
up at the box office. Although having a male lead, the
extraordinary record-breaking box office hit Black Panther
was saturated in powerful and groundbreaking female
roles. Combine all that with the past successes of The
Hunger Game films, an increase in movies featuring
powerful female leads, and calls for more female directors
and producers and making them more visible; one could
say that women are setting up for a significant rise in power
in this industry.
These developments sound great, but many still feel that
more changes need to happen. For at least one rising
filmmaker, this industry is ripe for a significant disruption
and shake-up.
authentic and allowing your creative work to be authentic
as well. I do believe that when your authenticity is being
used to inspire people, then people will appreciate and
celebrate it.
I do see that indie film provides the audience with much
more diverse stories and voices than the major Hollywood
films. Often we hear of Hollywood shying away from taking
risks, hence the many reboots of such classics like Wonder
Woman. Wonder Woman is a favorite to women like myself
who became familiar with the heroine and had the figurine
toys and lunchboxes during our preschool years. The
television series was a big deal, and is still a favorite
classic. Taking a chance on the Wonder Woman film in this
day and age of greater female empowerment was a very
logical and powerful move by the film industry. Plus, the
casting of Gal Godot was on point. It became a recordbreaking grossing superhero film. On November 2, 2017
Forbes reported the box office had the film at $821.74
million.
The Eco-System:
I am currently building an eco-system around my film JOA,
which also includes other films and Kindle books related to
the film and its adventure-centric story.
In the case of indie films, as an audience, we have many
choices to see women in many different roles and with
many different voices. Indie filmmakers are risk-takers.
They are people who often fund their own films or use
crowdfunding, so that people like yourself become part of a
potentially awesome story. Their films have more freedom
and wiggle room to create tremendous stories, which a
major studio may feel is too risky for it's bottom line.
I decided back in 2013/2014 to take the risk of becoming a
filmmaker. This was a childhood dream, and I took the
plunge. I don't regret it. Listening to the many complaints
from viewers about the lack of solid and complex female
lead roles helped me in finishing the story of my upcoming
movie JOA. It took a few years to write and rewrite the
script, but listening to people like you really helped me.
Filmmakers like myself need to open our ears to what the
audience is demanding, while still keeping the film true to
who we are as storytellers. I always believed in being
Get ready!
In my nonfiction book Invincible Treasures Adventure, I
share some of the obstacles I faced as a kid and as an
adult on my way to becoming a filmmaker. I talk about
some of the ups and downs I faced, never giving up my
fight. I also talk about how my background as an artifact
specialist and aspiring explorer has prepared me to create
these new films stories and take on the lead acting role in
the JOA film. The film's pre-production is finishing 2018 to
begin filming.
More to come!

GC Style interviewed filmmaker Ashley Pacini who is
also the founder of The Reel Women. The Reel
Women “celebrates the successes of women in
filmed entertainment”. Pacini is a producer and
director who has produced several award-winning
projects including Called to Serve and Jersey
Chasers. She has also worked as a production office
coordinator on several popular shows like Marriage
Boot Camp, R&B Divas, and Queens Of Drama,
The Reel Women have its own Facebook group
where supporters can engage one another and
discover talented women filmmakers and many
others in the film, television, and media industries.
GC Style
Tell us how you started The Reel Women and why?
Pacini
In 2014 there were conversations that started around
wages for women in the industry. I knew that this
was a problem but now I wanted to do something
about it. It was common to hear that there just aren't
women out there so I decided to show that there are.
GC Style
What does The Reel Women do to help women in
film, tv, and media and raise awareness about
inequality in these professions?
Pacini
Just show that women are not only out there doing
the daily grind, but that they are also talented and
ready to take on the bigger projects.
GC Style
What advice would you give a woman who is just
starting out in the film and tv profession.
Pacini
Just create. Whether it's writing a screenplay or
making a short film, just create. That's the best
education and you'll naturally meet future
collaborators along the way.
Pacini
I could list off all the departments but that would be a
long list. There are professions both above the line
and below that we need an increase in women being
employed in these professions. Yes, we need more
women directors. But we also need more female
DPs, teamsters, grips, etc.
GC Style
Please share other activities or projects that The Reel
Women are, or have been, involved in to support
women in these industries.
Pacini
Right now The Reel Women has mainly been
focusing on creating and supporting the community,
including events.
GC Style
What else would you like for us to know about The
Reel Women?
Pacini
Going along with the previous question, our goal up
to this point has been to profile and support as many
women as possible. And we will continue to do that.
We have also been growing the community that has
been a natural offshoot of the profiles. Right now we
are looking to take the next step, figuring out what
else we can do. There are a lot of female filmmaking
groups out there that are doing some amazing things,
so we don't want to come in and compete with them
in any way. We want to continue to support them.
However, we know there are still huge needs out
there that need to be met so please reach out if you
are looking for support or have needs that you are
looking to be met. We are here and want to help
where we can.
On behalf of GC Style:
Thank you to Ashley Pacini and The Reel Women for
your support and continuing work in helping women
rise in the film, tv, and media industries.
GC Style
Which career areas do we need to do a better job
with increasing more women in these professions?
