Fatality on the Tracks
Horse racing is a competitive sport which exudes high adrenaline rush. From the start of the race to the finish line the horses, jockey and mostly the audience is pumped up with anticipation about the end result. The larger incentive remains on the probability of the bets. Is the horse on which you have placed your bet going to win? Are you going to a winner or a sore loser? Your fate in a way lies on the horses.
People may think that the horses are the crucial element of these races but no. Yes, they are the most crucial part as from the name of the race we know that it is about Horse racing but the jokey is the one holding the reins. He has the power to make to break a horse and help it reach its full potential. A jockey is in tune with horse as if both of them together become one being.
A renowned name in the racing track is Andrew Thornton. Born in October 28, 1972, he is a National Hunt Jockey. Thornton is licensed for both Flat and Jumps. He has been looking forward for his 1,000 wins in his career but is not currently stuck at 996. Is seems winning the desired last four win is going to take a while.
In the most shocking display of a tragedy on the race tracks, Thornton had brutal fall from Utmost Zeal, the name of the horse is ironic in a sense how it made Thornton fall from the saddle on Wednesday. He was racing his horse in the Hay gain Hay Steamers Clean Healthy Forage Novices’ Chase for Lawny Hill in Tow ester. The fall resulted in a broken collarbone which is going to put him away from the horse racing tracks for about three weeks. In addition, to make things worse he was also trodden by a following horse on the track after his fall. He is grateful to have survived this incident and is looking forward to properly listening to his doctor Michael Foy’s instructions and go back to fulfill his 1000 success with vigor. The game on the track at this point can change anytime and this is the reason he is committed in giving in all for races.
Thornton has had many injuries throughout his career of more than twenty years of horse riding. His personal website lists around five broken collarbones, one broken leg, left arm broken twice, ribs broken twice, chipped elbow, partially ruptured cruciate ligament on right knee, one fractured left ankle and now a broken collarbone. This man is a biological nightmare. His dedication has kept him riding all throughout his injuries.
His last post in twitter before this injury had been a cheerful one. He was happy to mention that he was on the road again and heading towards Tow ester races where he is going for a couple rides. A speedy recovery for this marvelous rider is expected so that he may return on the tracks and complete his milestone of winning a 1000 times.
