“Students at schools and universities learn more lessons with teachers than from other sources
(such as internet or television). To what extent do you agree or disagree”
Learners acquire more knowledge with teachers compared with other resources such as internet
or television. In my opinion I would definitely agree with the aforementioned statement since
teachers are one of the most essential elements of the learning process.
Technically speaking, the learning process has two main elements, lacking one will definitely
mean that proper learning will not exist within. These are the Teachers and the Learners. The
main reason why teachers are essential in the students’ learning is because of the fact that they
are the ones who facilitates the process; they answer queries of the students and clear confusions
in their minds, which make learning efficient and worthwhile. Teachers have the capability to
encourage students in times of difficulties and doubt and as well as recognize their talents and
nurture it this makes learning an enjoyable and worthwhile experience.
On the other hand, we cannot deny the fact that other learning resources, such as the internet and
the television, are able to cultivate knowledge and information in the minds of our young
generation. The 21th century learners are able to book online classes and search information in
the internet through Google and other search engines. These skills will be handy for them in the
long run, for technology is now part of our daily living. However, this cannot exclude the
essence of having a teacher at hand in the learning process, research shows that most students
who open their computers to study end-up in playing computer games due to lack of discipline.
Without a proper guidance of a teacher, learning with the use of internet or television poses harm
to our learners because everything will be permissible to them and their curiosity will drove them
off the learning path ,and might lead them into lurking in the shadows of cyber pornography and
internet addiction.
In conclusion, the existence of other learning resources will never outweigh the place of teachers
in the learning process. These learning resources can serve as supplementary materials that
students will be able to utilize in order to inculcate further learning but it will never replace the
importance of a teacher .
