Strategic intervention Materials
STRATEGIC INTERVENTION MATERIALS is designed to give the learners a better understanding about the states of MATTER which are SOLId, LIQUID and gas. the learners need to attain the following;
1. define the three states of matter.
2. IDENTIFY THE OBJECTS if it is solid, liquid and gas.
3. GIVE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF each state of matter.
INTRODUCTION
MATTER IS ALL AROUND US. MATTER IS THE AIR YOU ARE BREATHING. MATTER is the DESK YOU are using in the classroom. MATTER IS THE stuff you touch and see. And it is more. SOME ARE Man-made like buildings, furniture, houses and vehicles. SOME ARE NATURAL LIKE FRUITS, AIR, CLOUDS, PLANTS, ANIMALS AND MAN.
MATTER IS DEFINED AS ANYTHING that has mass and takes up space. MATTER IS FOUND IN THREE MAJOR STATES which are solid Liquid and gas.
So what is matter made of? ALL MATTER IS MADE OF ATOMS. ATOMS ARE THE SMALLEST PARTICLE OF MATTER. THEY ARE SO SMALL that you cannot see them with your eyes or even with a STANDARD MICROSCOPE. Therefore, all things or objects are matter. Objects may differ widely from one another, but they are all small.
EVERYTHING MATTERS TO US
Directions: Observe the items that you can find around you. Then classify them according to the states of matter. Write your answer on the appropriate column below.

B. Complete each sentence with the word solid, liquid, or gas.
A ____________________________ has a definite shape. It does not take the shape of its container. It also has a definite volume because it can be measured.
A ____________________________ does not have a definite shape. It takes the shape of its container. It does have a definite volume because it can be measured.
A ____________________________ does not have a definite shape. It sometimes takes the shape of its container and sometimes flies freely around you. This particle is not connected to each other and takes up whatever space is available.
