TECHNOLOGY
As the old saying goes, “Necessity is the mother of Invention.” Each and everyday, the
world is evolving and new inventions are being discovered. Since the evolution of mankind,
human beings have developed an insatiable desire for adventure. In attempt to quench their
thirst for adventure, human beings have induced the growth of inventions across the world.
Since the existence of mankind, human beings have achieved a lot. We have moved
from the era of Agrarian revolution, which revolutionized the Agricultural Sector and created
food security across the world, to the era of Industrial Revolution: which resulted in the
establishment of many Industries that later contributed heavily to the growth of the economy
and finally moved to the era of technology which has dominated the 21st Century.
Ever since the depth of time, mankind has strived to advance his connection with the
world and the Universe at large. This is what brought about the birth of technology in the 20th
Century. The need for fast, reliable and effective modes of data transmission has brought
about the advent of modern means of communications like computers and mobile phones
designed to connect people across the whole world. This has made the world to be referred to
as a global village.
The future of our interconnected world seems rather grim, or at least it does until now.
Recent studies and research into this critical aspect of modern technology have unleashed
futuristic data transmission technologies with far reaching implications to all sectors globally,
from quantum leaps in telecommunications to rapid growth in areas of health, agriculture,
education and development of our economy. All these aspects are designed to have a
significant impact to our generation as many lives have been transformed by leaps and
bounds.
Since the advent of computers and mobile phones in the world, Sub-Saharan Africa has
experienced a rapid growth of up to 18% yearly. Both computer and especially mobile phone
usage has drastically exploded in Africa and attracted many users in this region. This days,
Web Development and Mobile Technology have become ubiquitous and computers and
mobile phones have become a necessity and a productive tool rather than a luxury item.
These days innovation has mainly been focused to technology and especially creation
of mobile apps. Innovation is the process of translating an idea into a product or service that
creates value. To be called an innovation, an idea must be applicable at an economical cost
and must justify a specific need. Innovation involves deliberate application of information,
imagination in deriving greater values from resources. My urge to all people is to embrace
technology and promote innovation amongst ourselves since as they say, “Employment is
Slavery”. Lets teach children to have innovative minds and come up with new ideas and
solutions to solve problems experienced in our world today.
