Before I get to the details, I want to share with you my weight loss journey.
At age 53, I found myself weighing a whopping (x stone), not being able to play with my daughters because I'd get so winded.
Add to that the passing of my mother whom I was very close to... and I was a mess.
Losing my mum... Man, that was the most difficult time in my life.
After her passing, I went into a food-crazed spiral that made me gain a lot of weight.
I couldn't stop eating.
My energy level and health were declining... my moods were erratic... and I was not in a healthy state of mind.
I remember distinctly the day that I realized I had to change my life... That was a real eye-opener!
One day, while shopping, I tried on a new top at the store... I couldn't believe what I was looking at in the changing room mirror!
I mean, I knew I gained some weight, but I was shocked to see first-hand just how much I'd gained.
I was devastated and disgusted by my own reflection.
It was that moment when I decided that I desperately needed to make changes in my life.
Two things that helped motivate me to change were:
1. If I put on more weight and get sick, I would not be there for my children. I would be failing and not be the kind of father I should be.
2. I knew my mother would not want to see me this way. She wouldn't want her passing to be the reason I let myself go.
So, I committed myself to change my ways, slim down, and get healthier.
I started an intense home workout programme that was tough.
It helped some, but it didn't produce the results I was hoping for. Not only that, but the exercise intensity was not sustainable for me.
