ARE YOUR FOUNDATIONS CRUMBLING?
If you’ve been experiencing the reality of crumbling foundations in Connecticut, the first thing we
want you to know is that you are NOT alone. It’s all over the news, and hard to escape if you live in
the area. While we can’t always stop Mother Nature from acting a certain way, we can adjust the
way in which we deal with the situation at hand! We understand your pain, and it’s important for us
all to support and encourage one another during this trying time.
This growing problem is causing people from every corner of Connecticut to go into a frenzy. After
all, structurally sound foundations keep us safe, and are clearly of vital importance. Various
investigations have been (and currently are) underway, to unravel the root of the problem and
hopefully stumble across a true and lasting solution.
Amongst the various explanations, it was recently announced that a certain quarry business (along
with its concrete maker) are possibly accountable. Both parties have spent the past three decades
providing concrete to more than 20,000 homes. It has been said that thousands of homes now
have cracks large enough to see through to the other side.
Both parties agreed to consequently halt production and sale of their products – just in case.
However, we know that nothing can take away from the concern you are currently experiencing.
Tim Hein, CT homeowner, started a group by the name of “Connecticut Coalition Against
Crumbling Basements”.
However, despite Tim’s tireless work, most of the group’s efforts have been ignored. Residents
have been raising growing concerns since the early 2000s, and battles and lawsuits have only
fizzled out.
The fight to get someone to listen continues. Families are at a loss. Insurers are refusing to cover
repair costs, defining the collapse as an “abrupt” occurrence. For most residents, the most painful
part is realizing that your biggest investment could potentially have no more worth.

NOT ALL HOPE IS LOST!
A lot of individuals and families are losing hope – but this isn’t where hope ends! 223 formal
complaints (from residents throughout 18 towns) should be more than enough to grab the attention
of the state, and convince them that something needs to be done, right? The only problem lies in
the fact the many homeowners are afraid to contact the state, out of fear that issues with insurers
and banks may arise.
However, we are pleased to announce that there is indeed a solution and way to end your concern!
You see, to end your worry, it’s important to replace your foundations. It may sound dramatic, but it
appears there is no other way around it (at the moment) We cannot change what has already

FAQ’S FOR FAILING FOUNDATION REPAIR IN CONNECTICUT
How can I know if my basement walls are crumbling?
Typically, cracks start out small, and can go unnoticed for decades. Basically, if it gets larger and
worse with time, it is not a simple “settling” crack - particularly if the gaps are widening and parts of
concrete are crumbling. Your best option is to call in the professionals to carefully examine your
situation before going any further.
I can see that my walls are crumbling. What is the first step?
Before anything else, be sure to receive confirmation from a structural engineer as to whether or
not you require repair. As soon as any present issues have been established, we can analyze the
required work and prepare a quote.
What does a typical cracked foundation replacement cost?
The estimate ranges from $100,000 to $200,000. However, this is dependent on the situation.
Each home is unique, and the quote depends on things like the intricacy of the design of your
home, the property’s overall size and other elements such as patios and sidewalks.
Can I organize financing for this replacement?
There is a possibility that financing for foundation replacement will be available for you. We can
gladly get in touch with your banking institution of choice and discuss your various options.
Must my home be cleared out prior to construction?
Only your basement. Otherwise, you’re free to leave the rest of your home exactly as is.
Can I continue staying in my home during the foundation replacement process?
Unfortunately, not - seeing as your home will be under the temporary support of cribbing and steel
beams. Furthermore, we would need to disconnect all utilities that are required for daily living, such
as water and electricity. We always recommend that residents reside somewhere else for the
duration of the construction work- just in case. After all, your safety is our number one priority!
How long will it take?
Anywhere from 2-3 months. This can vary depending on your home’s size, and whether elements
have been destroyed and re-built.
