Code of Ethics:
Code of ethics is the set of guiding principles that are used by the individuals to govern their decision making selecting between right and wrong. Based on the code of ethics penalties or sanctions may result from a violation.
10 Guiding principles:
We need to have certain guiding principles that we always try to follow so that we know things are being done right
1) Respect:
We should earn the respect of others by assisting others or through laying important social roles. Other ways of earning respect are to inspire change, growth, and innovation. We should use our own skills and resources to solve problems and initiate getting things done. Be open minded, add real value, learn to say no, don’t believe the self-talk, believe in your ideas, speak up when you are mistreated, stand up for someone else, speak your mind, caring about and controlling emotions are all ways of earning and giving respect (Lifehack.org, 2017).
2) Integrity:
Integrity does not have to be intangible or mysterious, it can be identified and measured. Keep confidential matters private. Ban bad behaviors. Be honest and straightforward in all family and non-family relationships. Each member of the family must focus on performance in the education and employment. Communicate frequently to everyone and remove doubts. Maintain an open door policy. Admit mistakes and use those mistakes as learning opportunity (Insightsfromanalytics.com, 2017).
3) Accountability:
Identify responsibility of each member of the family. Have them put in writing. Ask each member that she needs to win. Clarify the roadblocks and agree on what needed to win and who will be responsible for making it happen. Share lessons learned from actions. Reward the results (Prosen, 2017).
4) Assertiveness:
Allow yourself to be angry but always remain respectful. Do say what is in your mind but say it in a way that protects the feelings of the others. Control your emotions. Stand up for yourself. Confront people who challenge you and your rights. Accept compliments graciously (Mindtools.com, 2017).
5) Calmness
Make time to meditate for positive effects on mind and body. Focus on gratitude when facing a series of challenges. Notice internal judgments. Steps towards replacing criticism with calm. Practice self- compassion by accepting and acknowledging reality. Distance yourself from negative self-talks and beliefs. Set routines. Keep a journal. Create a to-do list. Exercise. Experiment and remember that everyone is different.
6) Courtesy
Remember to always use proper English and complete sentences in your talks and communication with the family members. Avoid emoticons, acronyms, and chat jargons. Include a please and thank you in your discussions. Spell names correctly. Being concise and getting to the point quickly is a good way to remain courteous.
7) Dependability
Keep promising, stop apologizing, don’t waste other people’s time, stop gossiping immediately, stop being too nice, practice humility, have a moral code, fulfill your duties without excuses, never agree to do anything until you understood the request. Be consistently punctual. Increase productivity in household routine tasks.
8) Discipline
Appreciate what we do have. Learn to forgive certain things, this will achieve self-discipline. Write out specific, measurable and achievable goals that have profound meaning. Eat healthy, raw foods and fruits. Sleep and wake up on time. Organize the items in your home along with the items in your mind.
9) Empathy
Understand other’s perspectives. Show sensitivity. Reward and praise your family members for their accomplishments and strengths.
10) Thoughtfulness
Let everyone think about their own principles for human rights, community issues and care for the elderly. Let your family members know that they have an opportunity to make a difference by always being mindful for what they believe.
The purpose of the code:
The main purpose of the code is to remain peaceful, competent in life challenges, maintaining happiness, getting satisfied from life and recognize the dignity of others in the community.
Core Values
The beliefs that have central importance include acceptance by the larger community for practicing the family code of ethics, development of morals, relaxation in the daily life, create responsiveness to the challenges which we face at every phase of life.
Training and education
This family code of ethics can be understood only at the will of individuals. Circulating the handouts of a code of ethics in the family meetings and allowing others to see you by providing real examples of how successful you are by following these codes into life, can prove a good approach to educating and training others about the importance of the code of ethics.
Who it covers
The code of ethics covers my family and each family in my community including people of every age, sex, and religion.
Mission statement
“Being the best is the main concept of the code of ethics while practicing them is the deep insight of my future prospects. Investing time on applying the code of ethics into the daily routine to make a difference in the community and bring a change to the world”.
Key role of those who have a vested interest in the ethical behavior that your code defines
All my siblings have recognized the code of ethics that I have developed and they have discussed them with their friends. My parents recently lead a community meeting held in the last week by emphasizing the family code of ethics. My friends have made a to-do a list of their daily tasks with a follow up of every code of ethics.
The strategies and thought process that used to formulate the code
A survey has been conducted by me with the help of my friends in three different communities, using their feedbacks, these code of ethics have been developed.
Monitor the practice of ethical decision making
Will hold the annual community meeting to reward the people in society who have achieved great accomplishments through implementing those code of ethics into their life and career.
Why the need of a code of Ethics?
It is necessary to allow individuals to know what is expected of them as acceptable behavior. These are important for making decision making about life and career that country laws and regulations do not exhibit.
