WARNING! Is light tearing your splendid eyes to ribbons?
As you sit there and read the beginning of this article you are starting to worry whether you are playing with a nuclear weapon— when you fail to take care of your eyes.
But you might try to sugar the pill by saying, "l can see properly now, why should l bother taking care of my eyes? After all, l have health eyes and l can see whatever l want!"
Such a statement could arise because you are able to glue your eyes on your television for long hours without feeling an itch in your eyes. Maybe you can work your fingers to the bone on the computer for hours and your eyes can endure it.
But friend, you are shooting yourself in the foot.
Don't you know that a brand new car becomes old and worn out after several years of use?
The time when the car is new, the owner drives it recklessly never thinking that one day it is going to wear and tear. He or she is simply on a crest of a wave!
Presently, you might bark up the wrong tree by flooding your eyes with vicious light from the sun, television and computer but what you must know is they are wearing and tearing away slowly.
A ticking time bomb!
How can l protect my eyes?
Avoid blowing a lid off your eyes by making them awash to a lot of light.
Be careful of the following. The light from them can tear your eyes to ribbons if not controlled.
1. sun
2. bulbs
3. Television
4. Computer
Sun
In the past, the sun was our guardian angel!
It was less hot and most people used to spend most of their time basking on it. Nowadays, it has stepped out of line to attack us.
The light from the sun is now a pit of disaster; people have to squint in order to see clearly. Not only is the light intense but it is very hot that you can even feel the pain in the eyes because of the heat.
How can we protect ourselves from this monster?
Try wearing sun glasses or sheltering in an umbrella to avoid the scotching heat.
Bulbs
There are times when you eat your heart out due to load shedding. Sometimes, light bulbs are dim.
Do you know you are putting your eyes on a knife's edge when you read in such poor lighting?
This is because your eyes struggle to see by enlarging the pupil to allow more light to enter. Prolonged dilation of your pupil can lead to eye problems in the future.
Friend, keep the wolf from the door by avoiding dim light!
To shoot from the hip, reading in dim light is like pulling a tiger by the tail. Don't read a book under dim light. You over work your pupils and lenses which will bring a bucket of worms in eyes in the future.
Television
Why do you like to glue your eyes on the television all the time?
Here is a huge televison you spend time watching.
And you say, "The bigger the better!"
But have you considered that the bigger the television the more you put your eyes at a razor's edge because of more light which enters in your precious eyes?
Too much light entering your eyes will cause rapid depreciation of your rod and cones— these help you to see different colours— and that might bring eye problems in the future.
Do you watch television from morning to evening without a break?
That means truck loads of light storms your eyes and that might bring eye problems in the future.
Try not to spend the whole day watching television. Those who watch the latest movies and songs will sometimes argue that television watching is exciting.
However, one thing they tend to forget is that their eyes are more precious than a mountain full of diamond.
Friend, love your eyes!
Over viewing television puts your eyes at the edge of a sword!
Watch when you have specific programs that makes you feel on top of the world.
This will help cut down the intense light that floods your eyes via the television.
Computer
The coming in of computer has revolutionarized the world. People can type, watch videos, communicate, and do many other things.
Are you on the treadmill with your eyes glued on the computer?
You are creating a bombshell in your eyes. You are punishing your eyes to keep open to the bright light of the computer everyday — creating a future can of worms.
Do you mean l must stop using the computer?
No, not as much as coming to a full stop but have long breaks before you sit again on your computer.
Listen, I am coming out loud and clear by telling you that your eyes are delicate and important!
Cut out toxic light which is a dynamite to your eyes.
Avoid bright light now. Fall in love with your eyes. They are delicate. If you put them in the firing line you will never have a new set again.
Done! once you damage them.
