THE CHALLENGES OF NEW PARTY-LIST GROUPS FOR THE UPCOMING 2019 MIDTERM ELECTIONS IN THE PHILIPPINES DATA OF PARTLYIST ELECTION RESULTS IN 2016: Below is the complete list of winning party-list groups along with the number of seats they have been entitled to: • Only Ako Bicol party-list got the maximum 3 seats allowed, having garnered 1,664,975 votes or 5.143% of the total votes cast for the party list. • 11 party-list groups got 2 seats each, their votes ranging from 671,699 to 1,357,795. • The 34 other groups got one seat each. However, WOW Philippines should concentrate in regions that doesn’t have saturated voters. Below are the examples of party-list groups that have won seats despite of not having bailiwicks: • Gabriela party-list garnered the highest number of votes in the (NCR Region) with only 25.97%, but the party-list ranked number 2 in the entire country. • 1-PACMAN party-list garnered the highest number of votes in Region VII (Western Visayas) with only 11.57% but the party-list ranked number 3 in the entire country. • ACT Teachers, Senior Citizens, Kabayan, and Agri party-list groups ranked number 4,5,6, and 7 in the entire country but does not have a bailiwick. The above-mentioned party-list groups ranked from number 2 to 7 in the entire country have won two seats in congress. 5 Regions that doesn’t have saturated voters for party-list groups: • Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) • National Capital Region (NCR) • MIMAROPA Region (IV-B) • Western Visayas Region (VII) • CARAGA Region “Lingayen – Lucena Corridor” • The vote rich provinces of Pangasinan (Region II), of Pampanga, Tarlac, Bulacan (Region III), (NCR), and Cavite, Laguna, Batangas (Region IV-A) comprises of almost more than 50% of the total number of votes available in the island of Luzon. • We will emphasize our series of postering and motorcades by going through the provinces and large cities located in the corridor. • This idea is cost-effective because all campaign work will be done via land transportation only. • This strategy will be implemented prior to the end of the campaign period to further boost our chances in the upcoming 2019 mid-term elections.
