A clear plan of action of
enhancement of the learning
experience of IBM Center for
Cloud Training learning journeys
How did you know the course
Ask every new learner either through a popup or
simple drop down question with objective
responses of how they got into the course.
How they got to know about the course and inform
them that it’s a simple 5 seconds response needed.
Provide the options like;
• Social media(Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram),
you might give each as an option.
• Referred by a friend
• University
• Google ads
• IBM website
• Random search
• Others
Preview of the course
As soon the learner(s) interact(s) with various
courses, create a less than 4 minutes video that
summarizes the course content that may integrate
the real life examples. Where applicable, use the
examples for a key concept and drill down into
some to emulate the real learning experience for
the learners. Integrate other things like the course
breakdown, instructor, and delivery methods
that’ll be used during the course. A combination of
this provides a context within which the learning
materials shall be delivered.

Instructor details
Provide the name, background of the instructor,
where they work, when they got certified for the
IBM and also how many courses they teach to
validate there level of expertise and enable the
learner comfortably know they are under the
instruction of an expert. If the instructor creates a
pre-recorded video, allow them to have real time
session within the course, but the learners should
be informed in advance through email to excite
them about the course and give it more
enrollment chances.
Course Outline
Break down the course content and material into
the smallest sub-topics so that the learners can
understand what’s at stake even before they enroll
for the course. Allow them to navigate and run
through these details, and if possible use some
interesting infographics or diagrams to provide
more context and grab attention from the learners.
Price
Any course is great if it has a price, but using the fear
of missing out approach that has a specific price that
expires in a period pushes students or learners to
enroll. However, they should be able to study it
forever or for as long as they get time to study.
The discount in the price makes it easy for the
learners to buy the course right now, even if they
choose to study it a day or more from the time of
purchase.
Almost every online platform uses this, it works out
best.
Free up some courses
Give out some simple course areas that aren’t very technical for
free to the learners. Allow them to access these, ensure they are
short, invaluable and useful so they don’t take your time but fill
a gap within what you provide.
Though the certification is relevant, the variety makes it
necessary to market the courses in the format indicated on the
right. The algorithm can be made to run in search a way that
when enrollment is very low for some time, it alerts the team
and a free option is given or marketed for not more than 2 days.

Video
Use videos to deliver content that may either be
pre-recorded but with graphics and content that
makes it more interesting for the learners to go
through every step. It’s advisable to use short videos
in the beginning and long videos later as you drill
down concepts. Because the finishing rate for most
courses is very low because people don’t have time
and it gets boring as they go along. Make it
interesting by alternating video materials of various
lengths to make it unusual, different and adaptive.
Audio
Juggling videos & audios of the course content
enables the learners to listen in carefully and provides
an unusual option unavailable on all other course
content material or platforms. It means as they stroll
down a bus, move from one place to another they
study the course or go through a simply version of the
content. Better still, you can have both this option
with readable course material as to provide variety of
options so the learners can choose from and use this
where need arises.
Real life examples
Use real life examples or problems that
have existed in other companies to provide
a view of what can be done to solve them
and place every concept into context and
perspective. These also continues to justify
the relevance of your content.
It could be very relevant when explaining
difficult concepts to dissect them into
simpler and understandable chunks, and
indicating key areas that use the concept.
Downloadable course materials
Allow the learners to download some of the material
for further reading, access and appraisal. It could be
in PDF format or excel where one needs to probably
attempt a question or read through for further
understandability.
Quiz the learners
Use quizzes at the break of every sub-topic that is
likely objective and where possible, another option
to test if they have learnt a thing or two at this
level. It helps verify learning challenge areas and
provides a better option for them to use or access
when building on there ability to use some of the
knowledge.
Q&A
Allow the learners to ask relevant questions either
related to the course or outside the course as it is a
source of feedback. It indicates learning challenge
areas and also allows room for interacting with the
learners on specific areas while enabling the
instructor of team involved to provide an option for
any search challenge.
Worldify the courses
Create a mini market where experts in the field of
IBM create course content according to what is
used in the field to make them more realistic and
allow for broader creativity for the users, learners
and everyone involved. In this, your platform can
be a channel and you pay the IBM experts for
delivery as the team pockets a portion for the
same.
Enrollment rate
Show the numbers of students enrolled, as this
allows the new or potential learners to find
justification in the usefulness of the course
material. And also indicate how broadly it has
engaged the learners at various levels.
If possible, indicate the locations from which they
are studying like 86% are from US, 10% from
Europe, 3% from Asia and 1% from Africa.
The theory of social proof sometimes forces
learners from seeing these numbers to enroll or
pay when they interact and maty study later.
Rate course content
Use the common rating material that may be stars
or the IBM cloud team can create other options
that provides a unique approach to rate that may
include using the hand symbol or any others. It
allows for past learners to also justify the
usefulness of the course.
Discussion Forum
Allow the learners to discuss within the system
through an integrated discussion forum or probably
video to create a social ecosystem that allows them
access experts. Or allow the learners to share there
views on the course and have one IBM cloud staff
and probably instructor curate or respond where
necessary on the various forums. They can check the
forum occassionally or every after 48 hours for
possibly unanswered needs or requirements.
Reward the learners (Badges/Medallions/emblems)
Create a section where the best learners profiles
appear to indicate what they have learnt, there story
and the impact of the certification. Use badges,
medallions or emblem icons to justify there level of
expertise and success on the course to make it a
worthy endeavor.
Every stage could get a badge, medallion or emblem.
You could have a medallion for studying every day for a
whole week, everyday for a whole month, everyday for
a whole quarter, semi-annually or year.
And even a badge or medallion for completing the
course, these things make every learner to feel
powerful in there own right, no matter the level
they’ve reached.
Progress bars
Use progress bars to indicate the level of
achievement. Occasionally for every two concepts
studied, use data analytics to compare how they
have faired against everyone in the course. Either,
you have gone beyond 50% of the learners by
reaching this level. You have achieved, 1000
minutes of learning by finishing this concept, keep
it up.
The progress bar can indicate the number of subtopics completed out of the total.
Actualize with a client
Leverage IBM’s clientele base to access or provide better
learning experiences, by allowing some of the best or most
competent learners to get internships, fellowship or even a
1-month training on how IBM works in the field. It could be
a simple video of a real IBM client sharing how they use a
concept to justify its use in the field.
These experiences make the learning journey more
interesting.
It can be sold in advance, that deep learning will be

Create Competition
Create a game, contest or event that allows mainly
the learners who are half way through or
completed the course to play. It allows them to
interact a little more with concepts in a playful
fashion, and though they may not win, it brings
fulfillment of knowing what to do for each
participant.
Graphicalize the content
Content is interesting to look at, read and study
when its attractive, blended with colors and
user friendly. Using infographics, charts,
roadmaps, tables and any other form, content
can be made more appealing to learners.
Use the various graphical software to create
user friendly content that make learning
irresistible.
If it’s a video session(s), the lighting should be
very good and instructor should clearly appear
in the background while articulating concepts in
the best possible fashion.
Share
Allow users or learners to share by adding social
media features onto the course sections. At every
step of success, remind them with either a pop up,
that they can have the liberty to share the course
with friends, contacts and colleagues. It provides
free publicity and rides on the benefits of word of
mouth of the contacts who benefit from your
course contents.
A simpler or indirect way of attracting users to your
course.
The sharing of the certificate with their social
network could be another way to share the
achievement with friends or colleagues can get
motivated to join the next cohort.
